OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator Review

Since the recent launch of the brand new OhMiBod Lovelife Collection of sex toys, I’d been interested in trying out something from the range. I’m a long-time fan of bullet vibrators, so was delighted and excited when an online sex shop kindly agreed to send me the bullet vibe from the new Oh Mi Bod sex toys collection – free of charge, in exchange for my fair and honest feedback here on the blog. Welcome to my OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator review!

OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator Review

Measurements

The OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator is smaller than a classic vibrator but larger than an RO-80 or other traditional bullet vibe. It’s 4.75 inches in overall length, with a maximum circumference of 3.75 inches to the shaft. There is an insertable length of 3.5 inches, if you fancy using it for vaginal stimulation, although the main purpose of the vibe is for clitoral or erogenous zone stimulation.

Design

Oh Mi Bod’s Lovelife range is presented in bright, fuchsia pink contrasted by white, which is also reflected in the packaging. Emulating a quite traditionally feminine appeal, the packaging includes a swathe of heart shapes, the internal storage box actually being covered with small pink hearts on a white background.

Basically, if you (or your partner) don’t like pink and/or hearts, it’s probably not the sex toy range for you. I don’t mind too much. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a purchase, unless I’d felt the power on a display counter beforehand and simply HAD to have the vibrator for power reasons, overlooking the aesthetics which don’t appeal to me personally. I do know that pink/white/hearts has what’s known as ‘mass market’ appeal, so in my opinion there’ll be no negative effect on sales. With Valentine’s Day coming up I am sure plenty will be sold in no time at all during February,  for instance.

ANYWAY.

In The Box

The OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator is found inside the slide-out gloss-feel cardboard box, set into a plastic insert. Underneath this insert, you will discover (aha) the charging lead and a white, drawstring top, satin storage pouch. It’s a USB rechargeable bullet vibe, nice and easy. You also receive an instruction leaflet.

Charging Up

To charge up the Discover, just plug the jackpin end into the top of the bullet vibe, in the centre of the white sphere which acts as the handle. The other end plugs into any USB port. You could also use your own USB to mains adaptor, if you prefer.

While it’s charging, the heart around the controls area on the ‘handle’ lights up,  with the aid of the white LED behind. This flashes while charging. Even when fully charged the light still flashed, whereas I would have expected it to emit a steady glow.

The leaflet stated it takes just 2.5 hours to charge. I had left it on overnight and it was still flashing. The OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator was charged up, however.

Operation

The controls on the ‘handle’ are quite amusing – it looks like a face. The face of a drunken angel! Ah, yes. That’s another thing I should mention. If you have an aversion to faces on sex toys, you should know that the buttons have been designed to look like a face. The eyes are the + and – power intensity controls, while the ‘scroll through the settings’ button is a squiggle for the mouth. Cute, if you’re into cute things.

It’s quite easy to hold the vibe, just between thumb and forefingers, or alternatively you can hold the sphere end in your palm with the shaft between fingers or protruding from your clenched fist.

The body of the bullet vibrator is pink. It flares from where it connects to the ‘handle’ to bulge in the centre, tapering slightly before the rounded tip. The OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator is made with silicone, which feels velvety in the hand and works well against lubricated skin. I would strongly recommend using some sex lube with it, as silicone can drag over the skin otherwise, before your natural lubrication helps out.

Settings

To turn on the bullet you need to press down the squiggly mouth button for a few seconds. Literally, 3 seconds. It’s quite a long time when you’re pushing a button down waiting for the buzz. Once it buzzes into life, you can press the + or – ‘eyes’ to raise or lower the vibration intensity, or press the squiggly ‘mouth’ repeatedly to discover (aha again) the other vibrating patterns. Press and hold the squiggle to turn off.

The 7 vibrating settings can be described as follows:

  1. Constant vibration
  2. Pulsating vibration
  3. Faster pulsation
  4. Long vibration then several dashes
  5. Dash dash dash dash pulse then several dots
  6. 7 fast pulses then 7 longer dash pulses followed by one long vibration
  7. Several short dots then a long vibration, several dashes then a long vibration

I’m not really one for patterns in my vibration. I can decide how I want to move a clit stim over me, to get the best personal stimulation for my body. I find patterns quite annoying. I like constant vibration, the higher the better – so the first setting was the one I returned to time and again.

During Use

Unfortunately, I’ve nearly worn my thumb out on the + button, trying to reach a higher vibration setting so I can achieve the stimulation I desire. I may have been spoilt (read: clit numbed) by the likes of the Doxy Wand and the iGino One. In my opinion the OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator would suit those who dislike very strong clitoral stimulation. It would be ideal for those new and unaccustomed to sex toys, perhaps intimidated by large mains powered toys or who have an overly sensitive clit.

Likewise with the aesthetics of the vibrator. As I’ve mentioned, it’s not that I am really offended by the pink/white/hearts pattern and design, I can see that it would have enormous appeal to thousands of women out there. Women, perhaps, more traditional in their femininity than I. For me personally, it doesn’t add to the product.

Noise Levels

Although it’s not hugely noisy, it’s not entirely silent either. I would also prefer the Discover vibrator to be fully waterproof, as this (hopefully just ‘mark one’) version is only splash-proof and I like to take my sex toys to the bath or shower with me on occasion. Although you will probably find mentions of it being ‘great for couples’ this really means someone using it over your nipples and genitalia, or vice versa – it’s quite large to fit between bodies during sex, particularly during missionary. Doggy and cowgirl don’t pose quite as much of an issue in this regard.

Afterwards

OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator ReviewIt’s pretty easy to clean, just wipe clean and spritz with anti bacterial sex toy cleaner.

If the vibrations were a lot more powerful, I could love the OhMiBod Lovelife Discover Bullet Vibrator more than I do. With a lacklustre top vibration speed for my oft-bashed clit, I have no choice but to relegate this vibrator to the ‘toys I don’t reach for when I want an orgasm’ pile.

Sorry Oh Mi Bod!

Perfect for the girly girl with an aversion to very powerful vibrators. Not great for me.
