Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua Review (Sample Sachets)

By Pleasure Panel reviewer Just Jess

I get really annoyed when companies gender toys, assuming you can only enjoy them if you have certain anatomy. But I was utterly bemused when I read the product info for the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua. Not only is their marketing aimed solely at men, but they even advertise it as such:

Deluxe water-based lubricant for the man who treats himself every day.”

Lube has never been gendered in my head; lube makes sex and masturbation more slippery, more horny and just more awesome regardless of gender or sexuality.

There are two varieties of Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube, silicone and water based. I was sent two sample sachets of the water based Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua to test by the Pleasure Panel, in exchange for my open and honest review.

Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua ReviewKamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua comes in two sizes. 250ml bottles known as “Love Bombs” which are shaped like a grenade and 100ml travel bottles which are a more traditional squeezy tube. I like that the full sized bottles are a bit different but the grenades look like they’d be a nightmare for getting the last of the bottle out!
The sample packets I received are black tear open sachets with silver writing and a blue angel design surrounded by stars and thunder bolts. The design is eye catching and quite memorable. I’d be happy to have a travel bottle (which carries the same design) on my bedside although the full size bottles are definitely more masculine looking.

Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua ReviewIngredients wise I was pleased to see no glycerine or parabens as these can cause UTI’s and yeast infections. However, Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua does contain propylene glycol. This is found in shampoos, deodorants and lots of other everyday products but prolonged use can cause redness and itching to sensitive skin and not just for vulva owners.

There is no spermicide in either of the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lubes so they are not a contraceptive but they are compatible with latex condoms.

Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua is surprisingly thick – I was expecting it to be much more watery. When squeezed out it held its shape well. Half a sample sachet was plenty to cover a dildo and my labia ready for testing. However, it was quite sticky/tacky rather than slick, which I guess is the trade off for the thicker consistency.

I did find the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua unpleasant and almost chemically smelling. The taste wasn’t much better; again very chemically and overly sweet. I definitely won’t be using the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua for a sloppy blow job any time soon.

In Use

I slathered the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua on my inner labia, butt and favourite silicone dildo ready to give it a thorough testing. Vaginally the dildo I used was relatively slender so very little lube was needed but this provided just enough additional wetness for the coronal ridge to pop deliciously as it went in. I don’t usually use much lube for PIV sex or DIV so I knew the biggest test for the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua would be anally.

After warming up with my lubed fingers I was able to take the dildo anally. There was no need to reapply the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua even after vigorous thrusting. The thick texture provided plenty of cushioning.

As there was a little left in the sachet, and wanting to ensure I’d covered all angles, I added some lube to my clit to use with a bullet vibe whilst I used the dildo internally. And that’s when everything started to go very wrong.

Adverse Reaction

A couple of minutes after applying the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua to my clit, it started burning. Badly!

Pulling the dildo out of my bum I jumped in the shower – but even after a couple of washes my clit and labia were still itching uncomfortably. I took to Twitter with a flyaway comment about itchy lubes and got some really helpful information and advice from some of the lovely bloggers and reviewers there including Cara herself.

I’ve had an adverse reaction to an orgasm gel before but never a lube. Therefore I initially assumed I was sensitive to one or more of the ingredients but when I mentioned I had no internal irritation someone questioned if I’d shaved recently. I had, literally 30 minutes before I started my review. Ooops!

I often masturbate after shaving and have never had this kind of reaction before. However it’s definitely a lesson learnt for any new products. I was still a little sensitive the next day.

I’m not a fan of the branding for the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua – I don’t see any need to gender lube. Lube makes sex, foreplay, masturbation – hell, anything to do with genitals so much better for any and everyone (opinion not fact but lube, lube, lovely lube).

The use of propylene glycol is annoying when other potential nasties aren’t used. Whether this is the ingredient that caused my irritation or if my pre-playtime shaving faux pas left me far more sensitive than normal I’d be reluctant to buy Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua if there is a chance of an adverse reaction.
