Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator Review

By Cara Sutra

Thanks to the Jimmyjane team at Erofame Germany 2015, I am the owner of two more Jimmyjane vibrators! The Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator and the Jimmyjane FORM 6 Vibrator were given to me free of charge at the show, for the purposes of a fair and honest review here at Cara Sutra once I’d tried them out.

In this review I’m focusing on my experiences with the Jimmyjane FORM 5 vibrator.

FORM 5 comes in the usual Jimmyjane box – mostly white, very clean and professional looking, with an image of the product on the front and back as well as various details about the toy. FORM 5 has 5 speeds and 4 patterns to choose from, it’s waterproof and rechargeable and made with body-safe silicone. It also comes with a 3 year limited warranty.

There are details of some other products in the Jimmyjane collection on the back of the box too, FORMs 2, 3, 4 and 6  – FORM 1 and 8 (to be released soon) aren’t featured but I assume will be on future batches of FORM boxes.

Inside the box I found the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator, set into a moulded plastic insert, as well as the micro USB charging lead, the usual JImmyjane charging dock into which the lead is inserted, and a quickstart guide and another leaflet with precautions/how not to use.

Before I could use the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator I needed to charge it up. Here is where my problems began; there are two nodes to the bottom of the charging dock which need to be in contact with the corresponding metal circular area of the FORM 5 when you sit it in the dock in order for it to charge. One of these nodes in the dock was depressed into the base so much (clearly a fault with this particular one) that the FORM 5 wouldn’t charge. It would seem to light up for a moment or two, if I tilted the vibrator very acutely to one side, then would stop. Luckily I have other FORM vibrators from Jimmyjane and I grabbed the closest one (the black one from the FORM 2 24K and it worked fine. If I’d bought this vibrator I would have sent it back for a replacement (either the whole pack or a new charging dock) but as this was a sample provided free of charge in exchange for a fair and honest review I didn’t mind making do with a charging dock from my own collection.

The front of the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator lights up around the control area as it’s charging to let you know it’s charging ok (which is useful, as I wouldn’t have known about the dock issue above otherwise). I left it charging overnight and in the morning it was ready to go.

it’s fairly simple to switch on the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator then scroll through the vibrating speeds and patterns. There’s a button at the bottom of the front of the vibrator, a squiggle, which is to change pattern/mode. Above this are the + and – buttons which are used to increase or decrease the intensity of the constant or one of the vibrating pattern modes. Press + once (no need to hold) to turn on the vibrator, and press – to turn it off again (if you’re on highest intensity you will need to press a few times before reaching the off position).

When I first turned on the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator I had high hopes for this vibrator. The power on top constant (my favourite, as you’ll all know by now) seems quite powerful, and you can see the two… flaps (sorry, don’t know what else to call them, they are flaps!) flapping this way and that from the power of the vibrating motor. I’d been told by the Jimmyjane rep at Erofame that these flaps are to stimulate the labia or areas of the vulva while using the FORM 5 vibrator mainly clitorally. Not wanting to presume whether this would or wouldn’t work for me, I reserved my opinion until I tried it for myself. I’ve been surprised many times before by vibrators which I assumed would work for me and didn’t – at all – and the other way too, vibrators which I thought were a dead cert to fail and actually were pretty damn good.

Unfortunately, after trying to love the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator I must admit that it doesn’t work for me. The flap areas seem almost like a gimmick, a way to make the JImmyjane motor be housed in a new shape, as a new number FORM, but with no real usefulness for the user. Some of the whirring that occurred when using the Jimmyjane FORM 5 for clitoral stimulation makes me believe that not only is this the Jimmyjane motor used in their other clitoral stimulator vibrators, but there are the same issues I (and others) have found with the FORM 2. When pressing it hard into myself (usually struggling to get the high power yet rumbly vibration my clit needs in order to reach orgasm) the motor starts whirring and making a bit of a worrying noise. Like it’s got it’s tongue trapped and is trying desperately to yelp at me to release it.

The flaps are… annoying. They don’t stimulate my labia at all, they dig into them or fold over themselves. Ok, I thought, I’m obviously pushing it into myself too hard, I will try the gentle and light touch approach. At which point, the central area which has the main point of vibrating power isn’t touching my body at all. Is this some kind of fetish-aspect tease and denial sex toy? Certainly seems that way. If I was into being teased by the proximity of vibrating power which could potentially give me an orgasm if only it could touch by body (without my labia being stabbed by silicone flaps) then I would probably love the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator.

When I can get the central convex area between the silicone flaps to be against my clit, the flaps are digging into me so much that there’s no way I could ever reach orgasm – I’m too ouchy and too annoyed to do anything but huff in frustration and annoyance and think about how much of a better time I could be having with… any one of the other vibrators in my possession which don’t need to hurt me to give me an orgasm. Or which don’t need to hurt me to promise to give me an orgasm then don’t anyway. FORM: sadist version.

The only redeeming features for me is that a body-safe material was used, it’s rechargeable and waterproof.

All of the above is obviously my own opinion formed by my experiences using it. Your mileage may vary, of course. If anyone has had a lovely experience using the Jimmyjane FORM 5 Vibrator I would love to hear about it in the comments below. We’re all different.

If you’d like to buy this vibrator for yourself (perhaps you are into being teased & denied in this way after all) then you can buy the Jimmyjane FORM 5 vibrator here for $145.

Thanks to Jimmyjane for providing this vibrator to me for an honest review here at CaraSutra.
