Bathmate Hydrodouche Review
I was given the Bathmate Hydrodouche Intimate Shower Douche in exchange for an independent review. When it arrived it looked impressive, in a stout blue box with a picture of the contents.
Opening the box revealed the various component parts, hose, nozzle, clips and of course the 500 ml bottle.
There was also an instruction booklet with a pictogram and instructions in various languages to help you assemble the parts.
Assembly gave the chance to assess the quality, which is of a high standard.
The idea behind the Bathmate Hydrodouche is that you can hang the bottle in your shower which will then keep it topped up. In practice I found it difficult to position the bottle so that it was filled. Only by pointing the shower rose so that it sprayed right down would it fill the bottle but this meant it splashed all over the bath mixer taps and I was left high and dry. The instruction leaflet advises not to use water that is too warm which in turn means it is colder than usual for showering.
The hose is a generous 2m long and the nozzle is about the thickness of my thumb, so should be easily inserted by novices and the more experienced alike. The nozzle has 3 spray holes to ensure thorough cleaning. There is an easily adjustable clip which fits to the hose to control the flow of water to the nozzle.
Apart from the awkwardness in filling the bottle I found it easy enough to use. There was a small bottle of water-based lube included though I’m not sure if that is normal or was just for testing purposes.
Despite the undoubted quality of this kit I cannot recommend it. I have used a similar kit for several years which only costs one quarter the amount but in all other respects is as good as or better than the Bathmate Hydrodouche. I simply cannot understand the retail price of very nearly £100. On that basis I can only award 4 out of 10 points.
