Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator Review

Review of the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator, by Tigerlily

The new Ann Summer’s Fusion range has been designed with all couples in mind. Of the four models available, we reviewed the most expensive, imaginatively named the “Fusion Couples Vibrator”.

With two bendable arms, and no less than three vibrating motors, is this the ultimate couple’s toy? And more importantly, at £65, is it worth it?

Fusion Couple’s Vibrator: Design and Features

Measuring 15cm from bendy tips to base (about the size of a small hand), each arm of the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator contains it’s own motor, though both tips are controlled by the same button and cannot be independently turned on or off. The second control button is for a motor housed within the base itself.

The charging port is located right at the bottom. A USB charging cable is supplied, the other end of which is a long jack plug which must be pushed right in to charge.

Each arm also features a thin, flexible shaft that enables it to be bent back to about 90 degrees in any direction, and stay there. Don’t worry about breaking them if you bend too far; they’ll simply bounce back–though repeatedly doing this will likely result in damage in the long term.

The bendy shafts are around 13mm diameter, while the bulbous tip housing the vibrators widen out to 20mm.

Most of the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator is covered with a silky smooth blueish grey silicone skin, with a small rose gold patch of plastic on the base, on the opposite side to the buttons.

Hold down one of the buttons to turn on the respective vibration, either in the tips or base. Press again to cycle through 3 basic vibration strengths, plus 6 different pulse programs.

There is no Bluetooth or other form of connectivity for remote control.

Couples Toys: What Are They All About, Anyway?

The Fusion toy markets itself firmly in the region of “for couples”, which is a shame in some ways, because I don’t think any couple’s sex toy has ever truly fulfilled that promise, and least not in a heterosexual couple anyway.

The thing that sex toy companies don’t seem to understand is that penises generally aren’t fans of vibrations while trying to penetrate. And yes, I’m generalizing here, but they’re not really fans of anything getting in the way, buzzy or otherwise. They’re quite happy to get on with it while there’s a little buzzing action going on elsewhere, but stick one in the way and you’re in for a bad time.

The best couples’ toys are those that stop trying to design for both sides of the couple at the same time. It’s ok to orgasm separately, or just use a normal vibrator while being penetrated.

During Use

The included manual really must be given points for creativity, presenting no less than eight little diagrams on how to enjoy the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator in all its bendy little glory. But only one of them features a penis, so I guess that’s the (hetero) couples usage box ticked.

Suffice to say wrapping the bendy arms around my dick was not particularly fun for either of us. Again, random buzzy thing getting in the way of the action.

For her, results were mixed. She’s not fussy about vibrations generally, and while she managed to orgasm on occasion with the Fusion, at other times she just found it to be kind of annoying and numbing. The fact that it has two arms to be bent into place really didn’t help. It’s unsatisfying to penetrate yourself with one bendy arm and stimulate externally with the other. Inevitably you just end up pushing both arms together in a vain attempt to make the vibes stronger in one spot.

In practice, there just isn’t a satisfying way to use this bendy little vibrator. We tried turning on both the base and tip vibrations, but that led to some sort of black hole anti-vibe, with each one cancelling out the other. Not that it matters because the motor in the base feels so weak that you likely won’t bother turning it on at all.

Even then, each of the motors in the tip feels like a cheap bullet vibe at best. Simply by dent of having two of them doesn’t inherently make it twice as powerful though, or twice as fun. Bend and twist them all you like, it doesn’t get any better, I can assure you. These are perhaps the lowest powered, buzziest motors I’ve ever come across in a vibrator. Frankly, our Xbox controller could get us off better than these (and we could finish the session with a spot of co-op Halo).

But as for couple’s play: the most fun we could come up with was using it like a pair of salad tongs. And salad has no place in sex.

Fusion Power, or Fission Waste?

Ann Summers Fusion Sex Toys ReviewsWhile the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator feels like it should be a two-headed beast with a powerful growl, it turns out in reality to be more of a deformed chihuahua with a mildly irritating yap.

But some people like chihuahuas, and that’s fine too. If you like novelty shapes and buzzy vibes, and always find yourself juggling two bullet vibes to hit both the right spots, this _might_ be the toy for you.

Probably not though.

You could spend a fraction of the cost on a generic battery powered magic wand, and get far more powerful, deeply intense vibes that could satisfy both genders.

If you really want something you can strap onto a cock and stimulate you while he penetrates, get a vibrating cock ring. If you want something you can stimulate inside and out at the same, get a rabbit. In fact, get all of the above, and you’d likely still save money over this.

In reality, the best couple’s toy is just a really good solo toy.

We give the Ann Summers Fusion Couples Vibrator a lacklustre 4/10. It’s not completely useless, but there’s just so much better you could be spending your money on that isn’t a gimmick.
