I am a 41 year-old executive businesswoman living in a big city. I am also a Mom; my son Liam lives with me every other week. My blog is my journal. The turbulence in the last few years in my life – involving an open marriage, affairs, divorce, sexual reawakening, online dating – all while navigating equal custody of my son and trying to maintain a good relationship with my ex – inspired me to get back to writing.
The content is broadly split into the following sections: - True Confessions - Accounts of real life sexual experiences - Erotic Stories – Short original erotic fiction - Erotic Poetry – Salacious verse - Filthy Fantasies – Descriptions of things you want to try or would love to have happen to you - Sex Talk – General articles/opinion pieces on any aspect of sex and sexuality
Six months ago, I’d have laughed if you suggested that I’d soon be running a sex toy review blog. I’m a very private person, and I don’t usually talk about my sex life with my own friends, let alone the public. The start of Miss Ruby Reviews was all very spontaneous. A few months before I started my blog, MissRubyReviews.com, I watched a mini-series documentary called Frisky Business. This documentary followed the comings and goings of the staff at Lovehoney, one of the larger online sex toy stores in the UK. I loved the series so much because, for the first time, I heard people talking about sex toys in a frank and honest way. This sparked my initial interest in becoming more involved in the industry. A few months later, after a particularly expensive sex-toy shopping splurge, my partner suggested that, if I was going to spend all that money, I may as well do something creative with my purchases. I took one hour to think about it then set out to buy a domain name. That shopping splurge gave me material for the first couple of weeks of my blog.
Hi, I'm Charlie and I blog over at Charlie in the Pool. When I first started out my blog was more of a dating blog but over time it has morphed into some completely different. Now it's a mixture of sexual anecdotes, my sexual fantasies, sex toy reviews, erotic fiction and quite a few pictures of my boobs. What's your blog name/online handle and how did you come up with it? I needed a suitable pseudonym for setting up my blog and decided on the name Charlie because that was my cats name and I've always liked it. The "In The Pool" comes from the fact I live in Liverpool, which is sometimes called The Pool by locals.
I'm a 30-something writer of erotica and sex blogger, from New Zealand. When I started my blog, 'Bree Guildford Erotica' in December 2013 it was primarily to share my writing, however I soon developed a passion for sex blogging and now share both on my blog.I enjoy being able to connect with readers, other writers of erotica and sex bloggers, especially entering into dialogue about matters close to my heart, or that I feel need to be more widely spoken about. I write a lot about different facets of women's sexuality and feel that as a woman who is married to a woman - but doesn't identify as a lesbian - I have a special insight into sexual fluidity that a lot don't have.
Why did you start a sex blog or reviewing sex toys? I'm a sex+ person and I was trying to reclaim my sexuality after a traumatizing event. I wanted to learn more about my body and sex toy reviewing has put me and my body through so many good--and some bad--experiences. I'm grateful for all of them. I'm becoming a pro at me ; ) What’s your favourite thing about blogging? The writing process! I have notes plastered all around my room. I'm an English major and future author and sex+ woman, I needed something regular to write about.
Examples include: only wanting to have sex with someone I'm in a relationship with; only ever having watched softcore porn; thinking BD/SM was never done; having to be in love to have sex; many others - all of which have changed since I started blogging (ahem). However, other things I was into, which I never heard anyone else mentioning, included caring about contraception, sex education, feelings and emotions; concentration on the female orgasm; questions, answers, and talking; the spiritual side; the humorous side; the realisation that everyone is different; many more others - all of which, I think, still persist as very important!

My fiance and I were in a long distance relationship for two separated years at the beginning of our relationship, and I joined a site called Sex Forums initially looking for ideas to try to make our sex life a little more exciting. My fiance has always been shy when it comes to talking about sex, and we didn't have much phone sex because getting started was awkward, so I was looking for other things we could try. I started a blog on Sex Forums and began writing sex toy reviews as a hobby, and while it took several years, that blog turned into a WordPress blog with my own domain. I'm very much a newbie, but I've already learned a lot and continue to do plenty of research.
I’m a (currently single) geeky girl, living in the North of England, who discovered an interest in sex blogging and erotica. I started reading sex related blogs about two years ago, and discovered good erotica about six months after that. I had read books of erotic stories previously, but they were always something I felt I had to hide and not talk about. Finding all these amazing sex blogs really opened my eyes to the world out there.
SexandJava.com is focused on bringing information to the public about our experiences with toys, mostly from a couples perspective, though we just recently added a new female writer who does reviews from an entirely individualized focus. Our first sex toy purchase before the site was of a latex-infused dildo (Ms.A has a serious latex allergy) and some lube that caused skin irritation which caused me to go on a research endeavor to find out why. We found out that there are no regulations for what goes into a sex toy and not many for what goes into lubrication. We've been working hard to find companies that focus on creating safe sex toys and lubrication. It was mostly Ms.A's idea for the site, after I kept referring her to other review sites for information, she said, "Hey, I want to do that." and SexandJava.com was born. She doesn't like to write, just share her opinions. I like to write, so it really just happened to work out that way.
I love that I have a place to put my words, to express and expose myself. I am an exhibitionist by nature, albeit a shy one. I find it easier to express myself on paper and in pictures than I do in real life. Other than having a place where I can express myself, I love the interaction with like-minded people and making friends around the globe. Through my website and attending erotic meetings such as Eroticon, I have met a lot of lovely people and it has even given me more self-confidence.
The main goal of my blog and work is to normalize sex, sex toys, and nudity through open discussion, creativity, and sex positivity. My blog is ranked highly on sex blog lists like the Top Sex Bloggers of 2013, my writing has appeared on sites like Fleshbot.com, and I’m known in the sex toy world as a photography guru. I’ve attended blogger conferences like CatalystCon andEroticonUSA, and I love networking with sex positive people. I identify as a feminist, pan-sexual slut, and I live in weird and fabulous Austin, Texas with my long term partner Jake and our adorable kitty. I love reading and learning, French press coffee, travelling, devouring al pastor tacos, (topless) sunbathing, knee high socks, gluten free pizza, pinups, cats, Bloody Marys, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The purpose of Katie Laid Bare to give my readers and followers, an insight into my world and the things that are important to me. I intend to be open and frank about the topics I choose to write about. Some of my views may be controversial, some funny, and some, I hope, thought provoking. Ultimately, it's really just a random collection of musings on the subjects of sex, life, the universe and everything; but mostly sex.
If you know and understand your sexuality, you will have a much easier time with partner sex. I also hate how it's perfectly fine for 13 year old boys to wank into their dad's playboy (sorry, that was a bit heteronormative) but for a 13 year old girl to touch herself, it's taboo. I just can't accept that. If I have kids, and if I have a daughter, I'm going to teach her that there is no shame in masturbation, that it's beautiful, natural, and feels amazing.
I read quite a few sex blogs. Many of them are excellent, but I hadn't found any written by someone who shares my identity as a polyamorous bisexual switch. I'd find myself nodding along with a perspective about kink only to be jarred by a sentence that implied that of course all relationships are monogamous, or reading about polyamory from a perspective that doesn't allow for consensual power dynamics in relationships. It felt as though reading a representation of sexuality that encompassed my experience required cobbling bits and pieces of others' writing into a sort of kinky Frankenstein's monster. If I was going to be doing that anyway, I may as well put it out there for anyone else who might be interested.
I love interacting. It's not often that some one comments on one of my posts, but it really means a lot to me. And I love responding and interacting when some one does take the time to comment. I also love how I am always learning. I am always researching, asking questions, reading, and more. Not only am I learning about the world of sex, sex positive stuff, rape culture, toy materials, etc, I am also learning coding and how to handle WordPress issues, and my favorite part is digging deeper and learning to be part of my niche's community.
