Happy New Year 2021? Let’s Hope So…

My hopes and goals for 2021 (with a deliberate absence of any New Year’s resolutions)

Well… I think it’s safe to say that my 2020 hopes and plans were scrunched into a large ball and drop-kicked into the nearest wastepaper basket shortly after publishing them here. With the rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world, including Europe and the UK, a lot of my plans last year – like many other people’s – were forced to change. As this fast-spreading coronavirus necessitated a lot of personal restrictions (as well as dropping a massive clanger on my sex life), most of those plans had to be completely cancelled.

That’s all the doom and gloom out of the way. What about this new year, 2021?

Happy New Year 2021 hopes and goals new years resolutions

Happy New Year 2021

I have, rather optimistically, made some plans for this year. I’m sharing these New Year 2021 hopes & goals rather tentatively after what happened last year, but as I said in my 2020 end-of-year post there are vaccines on the horizon now, which wasn’t the case last January.

For the last few years, I’ve preferred to share my hopes and goals rather than set any New Year’s Resolutions. The word ‘resolutions’ conjures up some immediate, miracle change -and they’re often broken besides. It’s become something of a joke in our culture just how many people set New Year’s Resolutions only to break them soon after. Almost like it’s expected. I’d much rather set out some of my personal hopes for the year ahead and, along with any plans I might have made, do everything in my power to see them come to fruition.

My Hopes & Goals for the coming year

Regain my fitness and figure

I know I say this every January, and there’s a good reason for that. The reason being, I really bloody love Christmas and indulge to the absolute maximum. After resting & shovelling many mince pies and gallons of mulled wine down my neck for weeks, along with plenty of other festive treats (cheeeeeeeeeeese), I’m not exactly at the peak of my fitness. Understatement.

This year I also have Mission: Wedding to accomplish – including a sleek wedding dress that I simply must fit into! So that’s definitely keeping me on track with my fitness and health goals.

Blog regularly

What with the pandemic and ever-continuing busyness of life it’s difficult to schedule time to blog regularly, which is always the aim. This year I really hope I’ll be able to regularly publish new posts to the site, whether that’s in the form of advice posts, seasonal fun, erotic stories, product reviews or other updates.

Receive my COVID-19 vaccination

With the news of various vaccines effective against COVID-19, and the beginning of their rollout here in the UK, I can’t wait to get my jab to be honest. In my opinion, I’m already vaccinated against various other diseases, a heck of a lot of money and resources have been thrown at getting an effective vaccine researched and produced against this virus that has caused a global crisis, and I have faith that it’s safe and will work.

As a 40-year-old woman with no underlying health issues, I’m quite far down the list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. There are other, more vulnerable groups prioritised to receive it first, here in the UK. Older people, those who work in care and on the front line of the NHS, those with underlying health issues which means their immune system is compromised… Anyway, I remain hopeful that they’ll get round to our family at some point this year.

Get married

We’re still hoping (beyond hope) that we can get married this summer. It feels like a race against time, with the current national lockdown here in England and the rollout of the vaccines mentioned above. Will we be allowed to hold our wedding and reception as planned, or not? Like I say, I’m hoping with everything I have.

D and I are still going ahead with all the planning behind the scenes; it’s now mostly paid for and invitations are being sent out. If we do have to change the date due to bloody COVID-19 then we’ll be disappointed, but it won’t stop us getting married at some point. Our venue has guaranteed that we’ll be able to move the date and we won’t lose out financially – it would be a bit of a pain as I’d need to confirm everyone can still attend on the new date, but not the end of the world.

We’ll see what happens!

Survive it all

There’s such a lot to be stressed about and affected by in the world right now. Life can be hard enough even in normal times, and with this stupid virus and various political drama going on, every day can feel like an uphill battle. I’ll be happy if I survive 2021 with my sanity as intact as it ever is, with my family’s health as good as it can be, and with a roof over our heads and food in the cupboards.

Cara Happy New Year 2021On top of all of the above, I’m doing Dry January! Facing this year completely sober (to start with, at least) and trying to be as healthy and organised as possible.
