This week it’s the lovely Irish sex blogger Abbi Rode in the blog spotlight – who, in my opinion, is severely underestimating her blogging ability and is far too modest! Please take some time to get to know Abbi a little better in her feature below, then hop over to her sex blog to enjoy her real life sex stories. There are also links to connect on Twitter and Instagram. Thanks for stepping into the spotlight, Abbi!

Spotlight on: Abbi Rode
I’m single, Irish, I live in Dublin (but I’m not a Dub). I work a corporate job and hide this side of myself most of the time.
I’ve been writing all my life but only blogging for just over a year and a half. I’d love to find a way to do this full time.
I am dominant and direct in life and it’s apparently a shock to find out that I’m somewhat of a submissive in bed, even if I do tend to top from the bottom.
What’s your blog name/online handle and how did you come up with the idea?
My name is Abbi Rode – it seemed clever at the time – along with the tagline: Abbi Rode …. and told
Which country do you live in?
Approximately how long have you been sex blogging?
About a year and a half
Why did you start a sex blog or reviewing sex toys?
A friend of mine sent me a link to some sex bloggers one Sunday morning and I just knew that was what I wanted to do so I just started telling the stories of stuff that happened to me. And the odd rant thrown in too.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
That ‘ME TOO’ feeling when people connect with what I’ve written
Do you use social media? If so, where can we find you?
Do your friends know you’re a sex blogger?
Some of them, not all of them. They’re mostly cool about it. Only one bloke mate knows, he doesn’t read it – he’s not able!
Have you ever done anything specifically so you can blog about it afterwards?
I’m afraid I have. Or I’ve been wavering, then decided to do it cos it would make a great story.
Do you take part in any blog memes? If so, which ones?
I don’t as I’m useless and really afraid I’ll break the rules and let everyone down. And I know that’s not good enough
Share with us a funny or interesting experience that’s happened to you in the course of your blogging.
Not long ago a guy contacted me to ask me (and I quote) was I ‘a rabid fantasist’. I told him I didn’t need to explain myself to him or anyone, he could take or leave the free, entertaining and regular content I produced or he could leave it. When he insisted I was faking it, I told him I was happy to confirm that I wasn’t. At which point he switched tack and called me an Irish slut (not sure what my nationality had to do with it) But what I couldn’t understand was, which was he saying was worse! That I was a liar or a slut as both ideas seemed to be so problematic for him. It was honestly very amusing
Will you still be blogging in 5 years time?
I don’t know? Depends on if I still have a sex life, an interest in sex or the time and inclination to do it
If not already a professional blog: would you say you’re looking to earn a living from blogging eventually, or will it remain a hobby?
I would love to be paid to be Abbi all day long. I write pieces in my head when I’m bored at meetings in work. It’s going to end in tears. Most likely mine.
Tell us about three other bloggers you admire, and why.
I like Molly @mollysdailykiss and Michael @domsigns – these guys are the most supportive, encouraging and talented people I’ve met. I’m in awe of them as individuals and as a team. I also love @EA_Unadorned as his attitude towards women and sex continues to delight me. I wish he gave seminars to help the masses understand how being feminist benefits everyone. And espeically sex.
If you review sex toys, what are the top three toys you wish you could get your hands on next?
I’ll mostly skip this one. But I did see a thig called a womanizer at Eroticon last year. It apparently sucks on the clit and mimics someone giving you head. I’m wholly unconvinced but I’d love to give it a try.
Who is your favourite adult shopping company, and why?
Sextoys.co.uk are pretty sound people. I bought my Doxy off them and they replaced it when I messed the plug up. (I don’t use it for anything but aching muscles and even then not often… it wasn’t for me).
Do you prefer blogging fictional erotica, real life sex anecdotes or factual based content such as reviews and advice guides?
99% of my stuff is real. I don’t think I have the creativity to do anything that I hadn’t any experience of. As much as I’d love to think I’m a writer, I have no imagination so I can’t see me turning out any great work of fiction. Even though I’d like to.
