Sex Blogger Spotlight Series: Onahole Review

This week’s sex blogger in the spotlight is Onahole Review who posts reviews of the Japanese Onahole sex toys and masturbators made famous for the mainstream by TENGA. Read more about this fascinating sex blogger and sex toy reviewer in the spotlight feature below.

My nickname is AkaiHebi, 25 years old, blogger at Onahole Review.

“Akai” means red in Japanese, and “hebi” means snake. Red snake. Because I like snakes, my Chinese zodiac sign is the snake and it sounds kinda cool.

In my early teen years I got interested in Japanese culture, including manga of course, and gradually found my way on the path of the “otaku”, a passionate of Japanese sub-culture and it’s mix of cute girls, bloody gore and monsters.

4 years ago, I stepped into something new: sex toys. Japanese sex toys, male masturbators called “onaholes”. There were so many, even parody onaholes depicting manga girls, in plenty of shapes and colors ! I was up to buying shirts and snacks, I ended up ordering over 1kg of sex toys from the other side of the world. Some were pretty nice, some were total crap. I couldn’t know before trying. And meanwhile, many new onaholes appeared on the store. I decided I should make a log of the onaholes I try, and publish my opinions. And so it started: Onahole Review ! And here we are today, still growing, forming a team of 3 reviewers and 1 illustrator, choosing awesome products from the ocean of available Japanese sex toys, trying new things out and exploring.

Do your friends know you’re a sex blogger?

Since I made lots of new friends through my blog and social media, I’d say roughly half my friends know about that side of me ^-^

If not already a professional blog: would you say you’re looking to earn a living from blogging eventually, or will it remain a hobby?
Since I’ve already got a job and earning a living from it, I prefer keeping the blogging as a hobby, reinvesting it’s income into new hosting features and more onaholes. I don’t think I can take as much fun if I need the blog to survive, and blogging about such a niche market is pretty inefficient as business model. So no ^^

Tell us about three other bloggers you admire, and why.

Infernal Monkey. He too one day thought about making a blog about onaholes, and that was “the first day of his new life” just like me ! And I love his writing style, lots of references and fucked-up ideas, without explicit content.

Girl on the net. Always interesting to read, and her “filth” category posts are proof that explicit pictures are unnessessary for sexy fantasies. The brain is an amazing organ. (in Japanese). They do an impressive work: every new onahole gets objectively reviewed, illustrated, rated, with video streams and automatic link checks.

Who is your favourite adult shopping company, and why?

That surely must be NLS. The old-looking design and Engrish product descriptions are very misleading: excellent prices, discreet shipping, and extra customer service (like removing of the packaging upon request). Their warehouse is HUGE and filled with all kinds of products for all kinks, and should a product not be listed they can even order it specially for you. Too bad the shipping from Japan can easily add +50% to the total price. That’s what happens when you don’t live in Japan 🙁

Do you prefer blogging fictional erotica, real life sex anecdotes or factual based content such as reviews and advice guides?

Since I do subjective reviews, I sometimes add some spices to it, “opening doors” to fantasies around the product. But I have a few projects in mind, like stories with fictional characters, or even an erotic game in the web browser.. Maybe I’ll start something deeper, like a sci-fi+porn novel. Too much ideas, not enough time !

See you on the net !
