Sex Blogger Spotlight Series: Penny for Your (Dirty) Thoughts

It’s the seriously saucy Penny in the Sex Blogger Spotlight and not only does Penny have an incredible talent for hot erotic writing but she also creates the most fantastic photography too.

Would you like a free feature post of your own? They’re posted on Thursdays. If you’re a sex blogger or sex toy reviewer, check out my call for submissions here and email me here.

I also run a similar offer for erotic authors, with a post published every Monday. Check out the Erotic Author Spotlight Series here and the relevant call for subs here.

penny for your dirty thoughts sex blogger spotlight series

Hey y’all, I’m Penny! I’m a writer, photographer, and sex blogger. My blog Penny for Your (Dirty) Thoughts is a mix of  sex toy reviewssexuality opinion pieces, sensual self-portraiture, fancy sex toy photography, erotic tales, and more!  While I don’t believe sex is actually dirty, I love reclaiming the word in a positive way.

The main goal of my blog and work is to normalize sex, sex toys, and nudity through open discussion, creativity, and sex positivity. My blog is ranked highly on sex blog lists like the Top Sex Bloggers of 2013, my writing has appeared on sites like, and I’m known in the sex toy world as a photography guru. I’ve attended blogger conferences like CatalystCon andEroticonUSA, and I love networking with sex positive people.

I identify as a feminist, pan-sexual slut, and I live in weird and fabulous Austin, Texas with my long term partner Jake and our adorable kitty. I love reading and learning, French press coffee, travelling, devouring al pastor tacos, (topless) sunbathing, knee high socks, gluten free pizza, pinups, cats, Bloody Marys, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Q&A

Approximately how long have you been sex blogging?

My 3 year blogiversary is coming up in September…and I’ll be celebrating it with a giveaway!

Why did you start a sex blog or reviewing sex toys?

I worked at a sex shop for a few years and love talking about sex, so I started my blog to reach out to even more people. My blog has evolved over the years, but it all boils down to wanting to spread the sex and body positive word!

What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

Interacting with sex positive people—on Twitter, with readers on my blog, and with other bloggers and friends.

Do you use social media? If so, where can we find you?

Yes, you can find me on TwitterTumblrFacebookInstagramPinterest, and Google+.

Do your friends know you’re a sex blogger?

Yes, and they love it! Often when I meet friends of friends, it’s “She’s the sex blogger I was telling you about…” which usually leads to some awesome conversations.

Do you take part in any blog memes? If so, which ones?

I participate in Sinful Sunday & Toy With Me Tuesday most weeks, and I occasionally join in for Wicked Wednesday, Kink of the Week, & Dee’s Scavenger Hunt.

Share with us a funny or interesting experience that’s happened to you in the course of your blogging.

One of my favorite blogging experiences so far was being tied up for the first time ever with M from Cammies on the Floor in a restaurant full of people in Atlanta during EroticonUSA last year.

Will you still be blogging in 5 years time?

I certainly hope so!

Tell us about three other bloggers you admire, and why.

I admire a lot of bloggers, but my top 3 favorites are EpiphoraDangerous Lilly, & Molly. While each of these bloggers has a unique style, I admire them all because they aren’t afraid to be brutally honest and tackle challenging issues. Piph’s blog has the most entertaining reviews I’ve ever read, Lilly’s blog is an invaluable resource for reviews and toxic toy information, and Molly’s blog features delicious erotic writing, gorgeous self-portraiture, and important issues like Pussy Pride.

If you review sex toys, what are the top three toys you wish you could get your hands on next?

The NobEssence Seduction, Lelo Mona 2, and Vixen Mustang.
