About Emmeline Peaches & Emmeline Peaches Reviews
Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Vaginismus (a tightening of the pelvic floor muscles which makes sex incredibly painful). At the time it felt like I’d never be able to have sex, let alone fully enjoy it. However, my partner and I decided to persevere and try and overcome my condition. Counselling, dilators and the right lube were a huge help. However, I also took some initiative and started incorporating sex toys into my treatment. This was a trial-and-error approach, but it was eventually incredibly helpful.
When I finally overcame my vaginismus I was left not only with a new found relationship with my body, but also a new found love of sex toys.
Emmeline Peaches Reviews was founded out of this love of sex toys, and out of the desire to help everyone enjoy sex to the fullest. It is run mostly by me, but my partner also chimes in from time to time and we tend to test toys during our joint play sessions. Emmeline Peaches Reviews aims to be body and sex positive, as well as gender neutral. We also value the safety of our readers and, as such, put an emphasis on body safe toys. But there’s more.
Emmeline Peaches Reviews realizes that it’s not easy to afford sex toys in the current economic climate. As such we make sure to review a wide variety of toys and try to provide extensive reviews, so that our readers can feel like they’re making an informed decision when it comes to their choice to purchase.
It’s a true pleasure to run Emmeline Peaches Reviews and I hope that people enjoy reading my content as much as I like writing it for them.
Q&A with Emmeline Peaches
What’s your blog name/online handle and how did you come up with the idea?
I knew that I wanted a name that was rather elegant, but also approachable, and with some personal meaning. Emmeline came about because it was a name that I felt had a refined ring to it. It was a mere coincidence that this name is shared with the influential activist, Emmeline Pankhurst.
As for Peaches, well, when my partner and I went to counselling we were encouraged to come up with a safe word, to be said whenever we were going to escalate the intensity of whatever situation we were in. We randomly came up with ‘peaches’ and it worked wonders (though it did make for an awkward viewing when Ice Age 3 came along). Because of this I chose Peaches as part of my pen name. It’s personal, it has a nice ring to it, and I associate it with sexual security and confidence—two things that I like to gain from my sex toys as well.
Which country do you live in?
Approximately how long have you been sex blogging?
I founded Emmeline Peaches Reviews in January of this year, so it’s still early days!
Why did you start a sex blog or reviewing sex toys?
As someone who had gone from not being able to enjoy sex at all to absolutely loving it, with the help of sex toys, I really wanted to spread the joy. I also wanted to make sure that people were getting, as my partner would put it, “enough bang for their buck” in terms of what toys they buy.
When I looked into sex toy materials and the like I was in shock about how unregulated adult products are, so I also wanted to become an advocate of body safe materials.
Starting a blog to review sex toys allowed my to do all of these things, and also fed my desire to write and maintain a project.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
That feeling that you get when you find a fantastic new toy and you get to share that bit of news with others. I’ve always been the type of person who liked spreading the word, as it were. I really enjoy helping people and sharing what I’ve learnt through my personal experiences. I think communication is an invaluable tool.
Do you use social media? If so, where can we find you?
Yes. I’m mainly found on my Twitter page, which is @EmmelinePeaches, however I do have other social media accounts. These are as follows:
Do your friends know you’re a sex blogger?
No, but they know that I’m very knowledgeable when it comes to sex and sex toys. My parents are fully aware though.
It doesn’t mesh well with their personal view of sex (they’ve never used a sex toy in their lives and have no interest in doing so) but they’re still accepting of my blogging habits.
Have you ever done anything specifically so you can blog about it afterwards?
Tasting most lubricants is something that I do specifically for review purposes (unless it’s oral lube, in which case I get to merge business with pleasure).
Do you take part in any blog memes? If so, which ones?
I’m afraid not.
Share with us a funny or interesting experience that’s happened to you in the course of your blogging.
Because I’ve only been blogging for a while I’ve yet to produce comedy gold, but my experiences with the PowerThrusting Sex Machine were quite funny.
The broken English in the instruction booklet for this machine was funny enough (like the misspelling of dildo, ‘diodo’) but the best part came when we tried again and again to get the cum-feature to work.
Because the instructions were so naff we had countless mishaps with this feature. This included the dildo randomly spurting water in my face, the toy releasing the water we’d inserted all over the machine’s seat, and the general hilarity (and worry) of having to lift up the sex machine and shake it up and down to extract water, like some kind of hollow toy that a child had taken into the bath against their parent’s better judgement.
It was one of those “you have to laugh or cry” scenarios. An expensive adult product shouldn’t cause so many precarious situations, but the cum-feature on the Powerful Thrusting Sex Machine certainly did, and we couldn’t help but laugh at it.
Will you still be blogging in 5 years time?
It’s hard to say what I’ll be doing in five years time. If you told me five years ago that I’d be writing a sex toy review blog I’d say you were mad as a March hare, but here I am. It’s certainly my intention to keep on blogging, but you never know what life’s going to throw at you.
If not already a professional blog: would you say you’re looking to earn a living from blogging eventually, or will it remain a hobby?
It’s not my intention to earn a living from my blog. If I can make enough money from it to buy more toys to review then I’ll count myself as fortunate, but my main priority is providing useful reviews for people.
Tell us about three other bloggers you admire, and why.
Hey Epiphora is an obvious choice. Her extensive compilation of reviews coupled with her unapologetically frank attitude is something to be admired. On top of this she always seems willing to help new bloggers. It’s all very inspirational.
Novelties Toy Meets Girl is another easy choice. I love her review style, and the range of items that she has reviewed. Her blog is always a pleasure to read.
Marvelous Darling is another great blogger who I can’t help but admire. Her reviews are thorough, but not too long, and she has helped me out on a few occasions. I can’t resist admiring a helpful blogger.
If you review sex toys, what are the top three toys you wish you could get your hands on next?
Oh gee. I feel like a kid in a hypothetical candy shop.
The obvious first would be the Eroscillator 2. Clitoral stimulation is kind of my go-to mode, so I’d love to treat my clit to some time with one of the greats.
Both my partner and I would jump at the chance to try the Bad Dragon Cocksheath. We’re both a bit geeky when it comes to the fantasy genre, and bringing that into the bedroom is a wonderful notion.
Lastly I’d love to try the Laid D.1 Stone Dildo. There’s something about shoving a professionally crafted, Blue Pearl Larvikite dildo up my vagina that sounds so primal, and yet so progressive all at the same time.
Those are my top three at the moment, but they fluctuate depending on my mood and cravings. I could list toy wants until the cows come home, but that probably wouldn’t amuse your readers too much.
Who is your favourite adult shopping company, and why?
I’d have to say Lovehoney. They stock a wide range of toys, their delivery system is great, and their returns system is even better. I always feel secure when I make a Lovehoney purchase, because I know that, no matter what, I’ve placed my money in the hands of a company I can trust.
Do you prefer blogging fictional erotica, real life sex anecdotes or factual based content such as reviews and advice guides?
I tend to prefer straight up reviews or advice guides. I’ve yet to dabble in fictional erotica and the like, but I doubt I’d be very good at it. I’m a researcher at heart, not a wordsmith.
