We Vibe Rave Vibrator Review

By Pleasure Panel reviewer DivaFoof

I’ve wanted the We Vibe for a long time but due to the privacy issues that it had hitting the press, I refused to buy one but following the class actions being resolved and the company We Vibe sorting the app out so that you can turn the sharing of data off, and the fact I’d been fondling one in a shop in London just days before …when I saw Orgasmic UK had a 50% sale on the We Vibe Rave Vibrator, it had to be mine.  Orgasmic were quick and speedy at turning around my order and it arrived in quite a large white discreet box. Nothing suspect here folks.

We Vibe Rave Vibrator box

The We Vibe Rave Vibrator box is clearly a vibrator and is in a nice purple and white theme, it states that it is sensually sculpted, powerful and a g-spot vibrator which is app ready.

The box contains the vibrator, a USB charging cable (no AC adaptor), silk draw string storage bag and a quick start user guide.  It also contains a sample sachet of Pjur lube made especially for We Vibe.  The guide does not contain any instructions about the app, it simply gives you information on using it as a solo toy.

The charge

On receiving the We Vibe Rave Vibrator, the first thing I did was put it on charge, it had some charge but I wanted my first experience to not be interrupted by a low battery. I honestly love USB rechargeable toys because no more hunting around for awkward batteries when the need is there. It advises that it takes 2 hours to charge, more later but you can tell how much charge is left in it via the app.   The toy itself is able to tell you if it’s low on charge.

Solo toy and vibrations

The We Vibe Rave Vibrator works as a solo toy like any standard vibrator, you do not need to download the app in order for the toy to work. You can simply just use the push buttons of which there are 3. The plus, the minus and the on/off/change setting.  You scroll through the 10 settings using the middle button and increase/decrease the intensity using the plus and minus. As a solo toy, you can only go one way through the settings.  I’m slightly disappointed by the intensity, at max intensity, it’s really not that impressive but for what it lacks in intensity, is made up for via the app but as a standard solo toy by itself, it starts to let itself down and is disappointing although, I love the shape.   The vibrator is full silicone and is completely body safe free from phthalates, latex and BPA. It is ‘splash proof’ so I won’t be fully dunking this toy any time soon but it seems is safe enough to clean with hot soapy water.

The We Vibe Rave Vibrator is 8 inches long with 5.5 inches insertable length (up to the buttons) and is curved to press on the g-spot, a simple press down on the end of the vibrator pushes the curved nature into the g-spot and it is complemented with a nice ridge that you can twist whilst inside you to really force the g-spot orgasm.  As solo toys go, its good but not mind blowing. The diameter is between 3.5 and 4.5 inches.

The app

Downloading the App was quite simple.  I found it on the Apple Store (though I believe it also works from Android devices too) I actually downloaded the app before I even got the toy in my possession as I wanted to be sure that the privacy issues were indeed sorted, and so I read the Privacy Policy and also switched the sharing off. This ticked the box for me and was happy to proceed with buying it. The app was also free to download, which is good considering the cost of the We Vibe Rave Vibrator is approx £90 and is one of the cheaper of the We Vibe range.

You can use the app as a remote control, you pair the toy with your device via Bluetooth on your phone.  You must pair it with your device before you can use the connect lover part of the app.   When using the app, if your phone dies or if you close the app, and the vibe was working, the vibe will continue vibrating and you can take over with the buttons on the We Vibe Rave Vibrator itself.  This may be seen as a benefit but also a downfall, it would be great to have a stop button.

On opening the app itself automatically thinks you are going to pair it with the We Vibe Unite, where you have the option for internal and external, it’s only when your turn the toy on and your device Bluetooth connects to the app that it changes the screen to the one option.  The app tells you when you’re connected.

You get a colourful display in front of you that you can move your finger up and down to increase/decrease the intensity and you can swipe left and right to choose what setting you want, it’s great to see the ranges of settings on in front of you as you can see the difference between them all and they are marked differences, not just faster and slower beats like a standard vibe.   Within the App, you are able to tell how much percentage is left of the charge, which is quite handy.

There are some other things you can do on the app like creating your own, which is customising your pleasure by combining the vibes. You draw your own or use the included vibes to create a unique experience.  I didn’t try this function out as it wasn’t something I was overly fussed about but I’m sure it would be useful to the creative people out there.

Connect lover

My Master remarked on seeing the We Vibe Rave Vibrator box on my bedside that it was a different toy on the bedside every time he stepped in the bedroom, but little did he know this one was going to involve him for a change.  My Master and I spend quite a degree of time apart and if there’s one thing that turns me on, is his voice.  Natural as a dominant, he likes being in control.  So; time apart, voice, in control.  So far so good. This vibrator could be useful for us.

Though; because I didn’t quite understand how the connect lover function worked and hadn’t heard great things about it so far (my fellow Pleasure Panel reviewer Just Jess told me it kept disconnecting), so I used a test with my best mate, much to her amusement. Apparently the connect lover function is a secure connection between two phones, She also has an iPhone and as such, it was pretty simple. There are multiple ways to invite your ‘lover’ and we first tried it with the air drop function that brought up a pop up on her phone saying that “Air Drop: XXXXX would like to share the website “mm.sic-apps.net”, and your ‘lover’ has the option to Decline or Accept. It advises your ‘lover’ to install the app and then click ‘Connect Lover’ on the screen.  As you click connect it wants to open the app. I wouldn’t normally go through all this but there’s an important part that really disappoints me, in that you have to have the app open in order for the pop up to come up ‘your lover wants to connect’ and it offers the choice of “maybe later” or “yes!”

The choice of “maybe later”, would lead you to think that it comes up on the screen without the app open, but it doesn’t. Your ‘lover’ doesn’t show as online until they have the app open. So what’s the point in the ‘maybe later’ option?  Surely you’d only have the connection option if you were busy but if you’re busy, you wouldn’t be on the app…. Unless you’re busy with another lover perhaps? No.   This app does not work for polyamory.  You can only pair one lover at once and to connect with multiple people, you must have remove lover and then reconnect following the same instructions above.  A faff perhaps?  Most certainly. Especially since my best mate and I got the app working in the same room but when I returned to my flat, we tried it again with her at a distance and it didn’t work.  I had to remove her as a ‘lover’ and reconnect.  Again.  It then worked.  Now I can’t say I was sat there wanking considering my best mate was in control, but I applaud We Vibe for their idea because we were sat 120 miles apart and she was able to control something in my hand.

However, it’s got some bugs that really needs to be ironed out because whilst it’s a great idea, especially for the long distance, it loses credibility with the lack of spontaneity. Neither of you can just want to connect, you have to get in contact with each other first for you both to open the app.  With this in mind, if you’re using the phone, you need to phone then open the app as it needs to be the most prominent thing on the screen.  So yes, it’s got issues but it’s also got potential.  If they were to do some major upgrades to the app, which I’m sure they will do in time, I’d be happy to revisit the vibe with a positive mind, this isn’t a vibe I will be chucking in the back of the wardrobe,  it will just be something I hope gets improved soon.

Conclusion

So, in conclusion, I like the We Vibe Rave Vibrator.  As a solo toy, it gets a 7/10 but as a couples vibrator for use in long distance which is what I was originally buying it for, it gets a 5/10 for me.
