As a current user of several different Fleshlight toys, I was really happy to be chosen in the June Pleasure Panel round to review the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup. I felt this would really allow me to see if I am sitting on the wrong side of the fence when it comes to self-pleasure, or is there simply a different sensation that I have been missing out on.

Quite a nice idea, rather than a one size fits all model. I would be able to vary the tightness of the insert to be able to achieve a more personalised experience. This I was looking forward to.
First Impressions
When the parcel arrived, I was intrigued by the smaller than expected size of the item. Having used a Fleshlight previously, these are quite difficult to keep inconspicuous (no matter what anyone says I will never be confident that they blend in as a flashlight!).
Anyway, the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup itself is quite compact and with a series of VERY detailed instructions on the outer packaging.
In terms of weight, the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup is a lot lighter than a standard Fleshlight and overall I felt that the size, weight and feel of the item made it very easy to use.
Preparing For Use
So, after a quick read of the instructions, the lid came off (pulls off rather than screws off – this took me an embarrassing amount of time to get around) and I was ready to give it a try.
The lining of the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup is made from TPE, so it is best to use a water based lube to prevent any damage to the material. The sleeve is very soft and quite smooth to the touch and really quite pleasant feeling. Other reviews of TPE products have mentioned a funny or distinct smell from the material; however, I really did not notice anything at all with this.
Also, the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup is phthalates and latex free, so another positive here.
The opening of the lining is quite plain and non-descript. Fleshlight put a lot of effort into the openings of their masturbators, however, the TENGA product range seem solely focused on the lining of the sleeve itself rather than the porn star endorsed vagina, mouth or anal moulds.
Suction Sensations
So now I am ready, and this is where I get to play with the real genius parts of the product. The TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup has a setting that allows you to simply twist the top of the tube to vary the tightness between five different settings.
In addition, above that, there is a small, very conveniently placed air opening, that allows you to place your finger to close the hole and vary the vacuum feeling of the experience.
By comparison, the Fleshlight experience I have had has always required a twisting of the lid to vary the suction. Whilst I found this hole on the top of the TENGA far more convenient, it was not able to vary in terms of suction as well as the Fleshlight, more just on or off. So this is a real difference between the product ranges, the ease of the TENGA v the slightly more variation in the Fleshlight, in terms of suction anyway.
The tightness setting is a real win for the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup however. With the real variation of experience drawing from the fact that you can greatly vary the tightness of the experience with relative ease from a simple twist of the lid.
Entry & Experience
So with the lube lining the sleeve, it is time to begin. Entry is very easy and I simply had the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup on the loosest setting to make any entry as easy as possible. Once in, it is quite easy to vary the tightness settings and these really do have a distinct difference in sensation. The tightest setting is still a pleasantly tight experience without being uncomfortable and really added to the experience and sensation from the inserts lining.
With only 6.5 inches of insertable length in the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup, I felt that the Fleshlight can really win out in this area. The TENGA Cup felt slightly too short in comparison with a Fleshlight for that real deep sensation that you can obtain.
Sleeve Design
The design on the insert is based around a ripple effect and with the insert turned inside out it is clear to see the patterns. I found the insert to provide a good sensation without it feeling mind blowing. The softness of the material doesn’t perhaps transfer the full sensation of the pattern until you really up the tightness of the sleeve.
All in all though, the sensation was clearly enough for it to achieve its desired effect, without making me feel that I would need to keep coming back for more and more of this.
Clean Up
As for the clean-up of the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup, this was really very easy. The sleeve pulls out of the outer casing and rinses down with warm soapy water. Then a quick spray and clean with a straight forward sex toy cleaning product before being finally left to dry.
Conclusion
Overall would the TENGA Air Tech Twist Ripple Masturbator Cup lead me to putting my Fleshlight in the bin? Probably not. Would it provide me with a pleasant alternative as a result of the various tightness and suction settings, absolutely.
