TENGA-iroha-mikazuki-1

This vibrator is one of the new TENGA iroha soft touch women’s vibrators, recently added to the range and pretty hot property in the world of sex toys right now. I have one product from the first outing of iroha, the Yuki vibrator which looks like a snowman.

The TENGA iroha Mikazuki was sent to me free of charge in exchange for a fair and honest review by Simply Pleasure, the Dorset UK based sex toys company. I’ve been in touch with Simply Pleasure for a few years now and they’ve always been friendly and approachable, yet professional and courteous at all times. You can check out their online sex toys shop here.

Watch this space for a review of the other new iroha vibrator, the TENGA iroha Minamo which is waved along the shaft, unlike this Mikazuki which is smooth.

First impressions

TENGA-iroha-mikazuki-6

First impressions were similar to the rest of the TENGA sex toys we’ve received at our house, whether women’s vibrators or men’s masturbators. They’re sleekly presented in well designed yet minimal packaging, with an attention to detail which belies the technological and geeky gadget soft spot that this adult toy company seems to have. Although the iroha Mikazuki box is sleek and minimal, it’s also still fairly masculine in presentation. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest – I am all for either unisex or non-specific gender in anything at all – but if you’re expecting pink fluff and flowers you may be disappointed. As I say, the minimal presentation is my first choice, so – perfect.

The vibrator however, looks like a banana! Every time I see this toy I get the minions banana scene running through my head. So, erm, thanks for that TENGA.

What you get in the box

Opening the shrink wrapped package, which is a glossy card sleeve over the two card boxes, you finally get to the contents within. There’s a black durable plastic lidded box which holds the vibrator, a USB charging lead with micro USB into the box, a USB to mains adaptor and the instruction manual.

Charging up

It’s easy to charge up the TENGA iroha Mikazuki, you just sit it in the box and plug in the box. Tthere are two metal areas which connect with the vibrator’s underside – the metal corresponding raised areas on the vibrator are also the power and function buttons. The micro USB plugs into the bottom of the back of the box and the other end of the lead into any USB port. You could also use the (conveniently included) mains to USB adaptor if that’s your preference.

A white LED lights up while it’s charging then turns off when it’s charged up.

Measurements

The vibrator itself measures 6.75 inches in total length, with a maximum circumference of 4.1 inches up to a slender 2.5 inches around the tip.

Functions

To operate it, you press and hold the bottom button, which takes you to the first setting: low constant vibration. Press the button again to go through the settings or you can use the top button to go through the settings. Press and hold the top button to turn the vibrator off.

The settings are as follows:

  • Low constant vibration
  • Medium constant vibration
  • High constant vibration
  • Pulsing vibration

Waterproof

The TENGA iroha Mikazuki is waterproof to a depth of 50cm and you can see on my Vine video clip that it works in water. As well as using it in the bath and shower this also means it’s easy to keep the Mikazuki clean between uses. The outer skin, above the soft inner material, is surprisingly durable and there doesn’t seem to be a risk of puncturing it through vigorous use or cleaning.

During Use

During use I must say that I wasn’t entirely bowled over by the TENGA iroha Mikazuki. There’s nothing negative, distasteful or uncomfortable about it to my mind (or body) – but it’s not the sort of vibrator I would go and buy. Even if I were the sort to buy vibrators. You know what I mean. This vibe isn’t in my quick grab collection, sadly.

I found it too small to be truly thrilling for me, although this of course means it should be ideal for sex toy newbies, vibrator virgins and petite ladies. Despite not being a bucket (honest) I do like a more girthy penetrative sex toy and this lacked in the size department for me personally.

The rounded buttons which double as the charging connectors are a novel feature, but they’re not the most comfortable buttons in the world to press. It’s also strange that you can use either button to scroll through the settings but only the bottom to turn on and only the top one to turn off. It can get a little confusing.

I’m glad this is a waterproof vibrator as it offers to much more potential play locations and styles. The charging box obviously doubles as storage, and to be able to charge up a vibrator in its closed storage box gives complete discretion – say, for instance, in a hotel room or if you have a cleaner that comes into your bedroom.

The vibration power could have been a lot stronger for me – but as we all know I do have a weakness for the jackhammer types. If you’re not up for being clitorally or internally bashed about by a jackhammer, the vibration strength will probably be fine. The tapered tip means that you can enjoy this vibrator clitorally as well as for internal penetration (vaginally, not anally) but the vibration needed to be stronger for me to attain a clitoral orgasm with it. As a vaginal vibrator (its primary use) I needed to use an additional vibrator to my clit in order to reach orgasm. That’s a personal aspect, so your experiences will likely differ.

Summary

In summary, this vibrator offers a soft, comfortable, mid-power range option which sex toy newbies, petite ladies and those who dislike very strong vibrations will probably enjoy. There are enough vibration settings to give you a range of play each time, and the vibrator is also waterproof (to average bath depth) so you can enjoy it in a more aquatic setting as well as keep it thoroughly clean.

With a discreet storage box which doubles as the charging dock, the TENGA iroha Mikazuki is extremely modern and portable as well as pleasurably plush. If you’d like to try it out, you can buy your TENGA iroha Mikazuki at Simply Pleasure here for £99.95 with free and discreet UK delivery.
