The very lovely Simply Pleasure sent me the Romant Amy sound activated rabbit vibrator free of charge to test and review. Thanks SP!

When you think about a sound or voice activated vibrator, you may be like me. You may have imagined speaking in dulcet (not to be confused with Dolcett) tones to your sex toy, as if it were the next generation artificially intelligent sensual pleasure object that we’re all on tenterhooks for. To simply instruct it, monotone-voiced, to give you an orgasm. And for it to obey, thrilling you with custom stimulation, vibrations, throbbing and pulses that tip you over the edge in perfectly pleasurable fashion, each and every time.

In reality, the Romant Amy has a sensor which detects increased sound. Therefore in use I was slightly disappointed that in fact I could not simply instruct it to give me an orgasm, I had to pretty much screech at it (sexy, I know) and then the vibration would increase by a fractional amount. This is not what I want my voice or sound activated vibrator to be like. I should raise my voice non-voluntarily, because my vibrator is so fucking damn good. Not to try and make my vibrator so fucking damn good, losing my voice in the process.

That point out of the way, the Romant Amy rabbit vibrator is presented in a fairly standard box – oh and look there’s no storage bag. With a silicone sex toy (sigh). It is rechargeable too so there’s a USB lead for that. It’s waterproof, as another added bonus. There’s a few functions to try out with the Romant Amy, all accessible by the buttons on the front control panel. Which is a good job, as if you were trying to call out for them you’d be there all day. And all night.

If you couldn’t tell by my tone, I’m not very impressed with the Romant Amy rabbit vibrator. Not only do I have to screech like a fishwife to get it to respond by sound alone, the material isn’t exactly what I would call luxurious feeling. In fact it was pretty damn disappointing. It states it’s silicone but it’s the hardest silicone rabbit vibrator I own, in fact it’s the hardest silicone vibrator I own full stop. If not for the outer silicone type drag I would be hard pressed to say it was silicone at all. Of course I’ve not taken it to a lab to test it, I’m going on the fingertips test alone. In my opinion this is not what a luxurious silicone rabbit vibrator should feel like; you’re within your rights to disagree.

The front fascia, the control panel, is a chrome, silver colour. Here the luxurious aspect is lacking too – it reeks of a plastic panel stuck on the front and in my opinion does not help when attempting to reason the almost £85 price tag for this vibrator.

Yes, it’s rechargeable. Yes, it’s waterproof. But for a rabbit vibrator which claims it’s sound activated but which I have to scream at (then fall back on the buttons to operate anyway) and which isn’t nearly as flexible as the silicone sex toys of LELO, Jimmyjane, We Vibe and Je Joue standards, I want more. I’m fairly sure a lot of you out there would want more, too.

The shape of the rabbit vibe isn’t too bad – as far as a rabbit vibrator can be comfortable for each and every woman (never going to happen, we’re all a different shape with different measurements). The rounded instead of split ear clit stim is definitely a plus. The vibrations are a doubly disappointing mix of highly tinny and not powerful enough to bring me to orgasm. I’ve tried this toy several times (I’m talking at least 15-20 times) and never had an orgasm with it. Perhaps now you can understand why I’m so frustrated with it. I really wanted to love it, but it just didn’t love me back.

In case you wanted to know the specs the Romant Amy Rabbit Vibrator measures:

  • 9 inches in overall length
  • 4.5 inches of insertable shaft
  • The clit stim is 3 inches in length from the outer stem
  • The shaft’s max circumference 4.8 inches
  • The clit stim’s max circumference 3 inches

There’s the usual range of vibrating functions, just not with any power behind them. I don’t even like the peachy pink box it comes in. The Romant Amy vibrator is waterproof, but I won’t be trying it on the bath or shower again – nor anywhere else. I’m very disappointed in this product and think it’s back to the drawing board on this one! To be honest I’ve had to muster every ounce of care to even post this review. I strongly dislike it.

The above is all my opinion and in no way represents what your experience will be like with the same product. All I can do is communicate my honest feelings based on my experiences.

In case this does sound like your kinda vibrator, you can buy the Romant Amy sound activated rabbit vibrator here at Simply Pleasure for £84.95.
