Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set Review
By Pleasure Panel reviewer BarginHunta
I had been wanting to try a half cup bra for a long time, but never seem to have gotten round to getting myself one, so when the possibility to review this lovely looking Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set from Bondara for Cara Sutra I was certainly looking forward to it.
The Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set comes packaged in a retail cardboard box, adorned with a tasteful image of a model wearing the set. Imaginatively the front of the box shows the front of the set, and the back of the box shows a 45 degree rear view. Overall very tasteful and should give you a good impression of the product if it was being sold in a ‘high street store’.
The bottom of the box contains some brief washing instructions:
Hand wash cold.
Do not bleach.
Do not iron.
Do not dry clean.
So my first impression is that I would not consider doing most of those things to lingerie anyway, (but I understand why they must be stated), but the fact it can only be cold hand washed does mean that there is no washing machine usage for this Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set.
Unpacking the Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set my initial impressions were good. It looked like the same item as is on the packaging, and the material felt nice and smooth and soft.
How It Feels To Wear
Potentially the most important thing about a lingerie set is how it feels to wear; if you don’t feel sexy, you won’t be sexy.
Unfortunately it was as I went to put this Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set on I started to notice problems with it…
So fundamentally this cage bra is fastened at the back with a zip… quite possibly the worst zip that I have ever had to experience. Remove from your mind any zip you might expect to find on lingerie, delicate or otherwise; this is a harsh, stiff, clunky metal zip. I honestly struggled to do it up and undo it with the bra still on the bed, let alone once I had it on and was trying to do it behind my back! The actual stitching fastening the zip to the bra was also rather tatty and seemed ‘unfinished’.
There is little to no flex in the zip. Once you do have it done up (with help!) it is like having a metal rod at the back of the bra; if your back doesn’t follow the curve that the zip decides to sit in it WILL stab you. This is made even worse by the fact that the zip is not lined at all. All other lingerie I’ve used will have a flap of material behind the zip for it to sit against, rather than the teeth of the zip digging into your skin… not in this case
There is one place that the stitching is very good though… the label. Quite possibly the worst placed label ever, it literally just sticks straight out from the zip section of the bra. You are REALLY going to want to cut this label off, but it is possibly the best stitched section of the bra! Rather than it just being ‘tagged on’ with a couple of stitches that could easily be snipped, it is actually incorporated and sandwiched between the material making the zip section as can be seen on the images above. Taking into account how loose the rest of the stitching was, I really didn’t trust the garment to stay together if I tried to remove the label, so for now it stays.
This really is where the marketing photos on the packaging do not match the actual product; below are images of the back of the bra on the model, and then on me:
So, let’s leave the bra to one side for now and move onto the G-string; there’s not much to this, so what could be wrong?
One word – “label”. The same problems; positioning and fixing. The label on the G-String is fastened to the waistband of the front of the G-String, but offset to one side. Unfortunately it is offset so far, that I found it would either poke it’s corners into me, or else hang out of the side of the material… not very flattering. Unfortunately again it is completely stitched into the seam of the material, so not easily removed; needless to say, there is again no sight of this label on the box image:
Sizing / Fitment
I am a size 12-14 34C and had the “M/L” size of the Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set to review. According to the Bondara website “M/L” is sized for a 12-14, so this should have fitted perfectly; unfortunately the 12-14 that this set would have fitted is not my 12-14.
I found that the G-String was a reasonable size, but the triangle at the front of the G-String is a lot longer and narrower than pictured. I found this meant that it sat a lot higher than it should have, but also left a lot of uncovered flesh at either side between the edges of the thong and my thighs; think ‘Brazilian’. I found that this did not flatter my shape at all.
I found the bra extremely tight around the ‘band’, and being fastened with that zip there is no adjustment. This meant that the horizontal straps were digging into my flesh and causing the vertical straps of the cage to sit at strange angles. The cups on the other hand did not seem to even match each other, let alone my breasts. I found the right cup overly tight across the top of the cup, but otherwise loose and baggy, and the left cup much more fitted, if perhaps a little tight but also larger than expected for a half-cup. Your mileage may vary, but I honestly don’t believe that my left and right breasts are THAT different to one another or misshapen!
Unfortunately I did not get on well with this Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set at all. Other than the tasteful cardboard packaging it reminded me a lot of the very cheap items that can be found on various marketplace sites which take weeks to be delivered. However priced at £27.99 (at the time of review) this set should certainly not be falling into that category.
I had high hopes for this Pink Lipstick Half Cup Cage Bra and G-String Set from the images I had seen, but now I don’t think it will be remaining in my lingerie selection, let alone being an item of choice.
Overall rating 1/10
