Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug Review (Red)

By Edger

I was lucky enough this month to receive two items to review for Cara Sutra’s sex blog.  Even better, both items were from Nexus, who I consider to be the front runners in male anal toy offerings.  So, I was quite excited as I waited for the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug in Red from Nexus Range to arrive.

I was intrigued to read before its arrival that it was a dual-purpose vibrating massager, suitable for use in either vaginal or anal play.  However, obviously only after a good clean or better still in a different session.  Switching between the two being a possible nightmare in terms of infection.  This makes me think that the dual-purpose advantage is more limited to space saving and saving a few pounds from having to buy two products.  Either way, I was eager to find out and give it a whirl.

When the package arrived, I was impressed with the overall styling of how the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug is packaged.  A simple plastic covering allows you to really see the size and shape of the toy, and I really do like the “touch me” option, to give you a feel of the silicone covering to get an indication of the softness of the toy covering.  A really nice touch here I thought.  The back of the box gives some indication of the function of the toy, describing the fact that the toy is unisex, made out of silicone and phthalate and latex free (always good to hear).

Once opened, the box contained the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug itself, a simple USB charging cable and an instruction booklet detailing some brief instructions regarding usage.

Once I got my hands on the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug, I was pleased to see that the silicone was quite soft to the touch, with no real drag or pull on it at all.  There was a small amount of give to the silicone and interestingly the silicone can be pulled away from the vibrating part to make it easier to clean or just to use covering a finger.  The colour of the toy is quite a subtle red and I would say that the pictures online give a fair representation of what to expect.

The shape/design of the toy is ergonomically set, allowing it to insert easily and provide stimulation in a number of places via its lumps and bumps (still all with a smooth covering).  They silicone was not too clingy and it did not manage to pick up any dust or anything prior to use which is obviously a plus.

The insertable length of the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug is around about 3.5” and I was a little surprised in this case, as I would have thought that this would fall at the smaller end of the toy range, however, being marketed as a medium, Nexus clearly have smaller offerings.  The girth is fairly narrow and as a result it felt all in all quite pleasant to handle and manoeuvre.

The Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug has 6 different vibration settings, that can be simple scrolled through by pressing the power button once turned on, three straightforward vibrating functions at different levels of intensity, followed by two pulsing vibration functions at different intensity and finally a ramping vibration from low to high that repeats.

One annoyance about the design is that the power button is placed on the bottom of the toy, so to ensure you can still scroll through settings once in use, however, it was not particularly easy to get to and to scroll through settings.  Perhaps this lends itself more to use as a toy that someone else uses for you, however, I am also sure with a little practice, the button pressing could become easier.

The final part of the appearance that is worth note is that the recharging port sits on the bottom next to the power button and is a simple charging cable that connects into a USB charging port.  I am not certain, but I think that the previous versions of these toys may have even had insertable batteries, so the addition of a rechargeable battery is an improvement for me.

So, for the first use of the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug, I decided to give it a go as a male anal stimulating toy.  On with a generous helping of a water-based lube (to be compatible with the silicone material) and away we go.  I found the toy very easy to insert and play with, it has quite a narrow girth and as I said, feels towards the smaller end of what I would expect from a medium toy of this style.  It sat quite comfortably, without really feeling that it was “in charge” of the experience.  More that it added something to play as opposed to being the main part of the experience.  I did like the feeling that I could really clench around the plug to increase the sensations and that it would kind of push back into me with the shape of the toy.

Once turned on, the vibrations were very good; although I would say that I found that the faster they got, the buzzier they felt, losing the deep down rumbly type sensations that can really provide a true spine tingling sensation.  I found that scrolling through the different settings was difficult as the button was not easily accessible during use, a simple bit of moving around led to this being easier, however, I am rapidly becoming a fan of remote control or app control-based toys that help to alleviate this concern.

It seems strange to now talk about cleaning up the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug mid review, however, with the dual purpose of the toy, a good clean up before more testing is obviously of paramount importance to health.  So, the toy itself cleans up very easily.  I did not feel the need to remove the silicone sleeve to clean it, and found that a good hot soapy water clean, followed by a sex toy specific cleaner were more than adequate to make me feel confident it was clean, before a bit of an air dry to make sure it was good to go again.

Now for a vaginal test.  The Nexus G-Play Plus Medium again was covered in some water-based lubricant and was very easy to insert.  They toy itself did not feel particularly filling or deep as I would expect from a vaginal specific vibrator.  It sat just short of where it was really needed, and although it provided some stimulation, I would say that it was just too small for the task.  The vibrations were pleasant enough, but without the insertable length of a specific to the job vibrator, it just could not position those vibrations as deeply as they needed to be.  I guess it suffers in this area as more of a jack of all trades, rather than a vagina specific toy.

All in all, in terms of use, I would think of this as a butt plug style toy, that can be sometimes used as a vaginal toy, but in all honesty, there are far better toys in the kit for the vagina fun.

The Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug is waterproof so the toy can be a pleasant addition to any bath or shower-based fun without any concerns over if the toy will survive the experience.

All in all, the Nexus G-Play Plus Medium Rechargeable Vibrating Butt Plug provided a pleasant experience as an anal toy, so-so for vaginal use, but good value for money for the stimulation it provides.  Would I buy one myself? Probably not if I wanted something for dual use, but maybe if I wanted a new plug for some anal play.

7/10
