MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo Review

The MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo is my first ever steel dildo, a massive thank you to Cara for sending this to me free of charge in exchange for my review. Not having had the pleasure of using steel products in the past, I am not in a position to compare this steel sex toy against other similar designs that are available on the market. With this in mind, I shall base this review on my own unbiased opinions and experiences when handling and using the MEO Big Johnny Prostate Stimulator.

My MEO Big Johnny Prostate Stimulator (I don’t have a prostate so from here on in I shall refer to it as the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo) arrived next day by special delivery, my postman looked pleased I was home so that he didn’t have to carry it any further. It certainly was a weighty package.
Inside the plain outer packaging, the Big Johnny box was enclosed within a sealed plastic bag, the storage box is a faux velvet covered wooden box with hinges and brass effect clasps, it has all the attributes to be a quality storage solution.
Unfortunately the clasps on my box were a little worse for wear. A few of the tacks holding them in place were missing. This meant that the clasps did not close securely and before I had the chance to photograph the box, one clasp had fallen off completely. I have to admit that I was disappointed with the storage box, to me it looks like something that has been recently been found, having been lost in an attic for many years. The material used is rough to the touch, attracts fluff and dust, and clearly the catches could have been better assembled. A well-made padded storage pouch would have been more practical and more suiting to the product than MEO’s poor attempt at a fancy box.
Once opened, the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo gleams in all of its polished surgical steel glory, comfortably nestled on a satin covered base. Touching the steel dildo for the first time I was startled at how cold it was, it was freezing following the transit from Cara Sutra HQ, temperature play with the Big Johnny should be fun!
Lifting it from its cushion I realised just how big and heavy the Big Johnny really is, my immediate thought was that the Johnny could be a perfect weapon in a game of Cluedo, *spoken in a Geordie accent* “Mrs Peacock killed Professor Plum in the study with the MEO Big Johnny.”
Joking aside, weighing in at 1.3kg and not having murderous tendencies, I could easily use this as a warm up dumbbell for my exercise workouts. This steel dildo is 26cm long, the shaft is 3.5cm in diameter with a steel bulb at either end, the smallest of which is 4cm in diameter compared to that of the 5cm larger bulb. Four finger grooves in the shaft, located close to the small bulb aid handling when using the heavier, larger bulb and should also provide some additional stimulation when using the smaller end.
As the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo is double-ended it is suitable for both vaginal and anal penetration. It may be marketed as a prostate stimulator but due to the design, should also offer G spot stimulation during vaginal use. The angle of the bulbs differs slightly, the small bulb graduates from the shaft and rounds off at the tip, rather like a light bulb. The large bulb on the other hand, is more hook like and juts out on one side. I am conscious that this hook may have an impact on how the Big Johnny is positioned for penetration, given that steel is a ridged material but confident that it should provide the P and G spot stimulation it promises in the product marketing.
I am already impressed the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo, I’m on the ‘bigger is better’ team and this is certainly not a beginners toy, however, there is a MEO Little Johnny available should this be more suitable.
I love that the Big Johnny has a human name. I prefer a personal touch with my sex toys, be it a realistic penis replica dildo or a toy with a human name, this hint at intimacy just adds to the appeal for me. I always remember the name of toys with human names, techy named items will usually be forgotten.
This large steel dildo is flawless by the way (my amateur photography skills DO NOT do this product justice at all) there are no seams, scratches or awkward crevices to make cleaning difficult. The 100% surgical steel is non-porous, phthalates-free, and completely body safe, it can be easily cleaned with soapy water, toy cleaner, by boiling etc. I found that after a quick boil, a gentle buff with a soft cloth had the polished steel shining delightfully. It’s almost a shame to have to hide it away, I quite fancy it as a piece of abstract art. I may leave it lying around and see if it raises any eyebrows when the In-Laws pop round to visit.
Moving Big Johnny round in my hands whilst admiring the craftsmanship has warmed the steel slightly, it can also be placed in warm or cold water to adjust the temperature should you require. Don’t forget to test the temperature before placing on/in your body, we don’t want frostbite or third degree burns on our fun parts now do we? A slick of lube, its worth mentioning that a little goes a long way and steel dildos can be used with either water-based or silicone-based lubricants and I am finally ready to introduce my vagina to some steel.
After a little teasing (the Big Johnny certainly lives up to his name, so I wanted to be prepared), I handed Big Johnny over to my hubby – who immediately wished he’d worn gloves, the steel despite being held in our hands, was still on the cold side. Lying on my back we started with the smaller bulb, hubby slowly moved the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo over my vulva and clit, the coldness made me jolt and my skin immediately covered with goosebumps sending tingles shooting through my body. The weight pressing down on my clit was also an enjoyable sensation.
Sadly this is where my enjoyment of the small bulb of Big Johnny ends. Being a bit of a size queen, the bulb coated in lube slid easily into me and then with a shock to my senses, the steel dildo jabbed his painful path through my inner walls, even with small movements the metal toy felt like it was stabbing away at my insides like a knitting needle. Before my discomfort levels reached the point of using my safe word, I asked my hubby to change the positioning to see if that alleviated the pain.
Tilting the stimulator so that the small bulb pressed against my front wall felt better but when it touched my g spot I was once again greeted with a stabbing sensation. I am surprised by this, the bulb although ever so slightly tapered is in no way pointy, but that’s how it felt inside me. The finger ridges didn’t seem to offer much stimulation but I may have been a little distracted by the stabbiness to notice these. Knowing the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo was not going to bring me to climax and craving the feel of something ‘bendable’ inside me, we ended our session with some husband/wife penetration. My hubby did mention that his penis was a little numbed by the coolness of my vagina caused by the steel toy, I thought he had lasted a little longer than usual lol.
Thinking that things may be different if I could control the angles and depth myself, I tried the smaller bulb again in some solo sessions but these also ended in me swapping to a different toy. Sadly it just doesn’t seem to work for me.
A few days later and for the purposes of this review we tried again, this time using the larger hooked bulb. Aware of my discomfort with the positioning of the smaller end, hubby inserted the larger bulb with the hook pointing downwards, this ensured that my front wall was greeted by the continuous smooth surface and not the curve of the hook to begin with. I admit there was a satisfying ‘pop’ as the head entered me and the coldness made my inner walls contract and grip at the cool steel. As he slowly pushed the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo deeper inside, the hook gently nudged its way in, my walls quivering with the fullness and the temperature. The small bulb and shaft served as a handle, and in this position it was pointing downwards, giving hubby easy access to my clit to provide some additional, unhindered stimulation. My head tipped back and I relaxed into the session. So far so good.
Allowing my body time to adjust to the size and weight of the Big Johnny enabled hubby to easily twist the dildo so that the hook was against my front wall, the steel easily glides within me. The larger surface area of the tip was much more pleasant than that of the smaller bulb, massaging and pressing its weight against my g spot.
Compared to the poking and jabbing experienced with the smaller end, the larger had me crying out for all of the right reasons. This encouraged hubby to be less gentle with his movements and his harder thrusts had me rocketing into a multitude of rather messy orgasms (I really should invest in some fluid proof sheets) in no time.
Using the larger bulb in solo sessions, I found that the finger ridges were helpful for controlling the position of the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo, it certainly feels much heavier when holding by the smaller end, so any assistance is gratefully received. Even with lube on my hands, the ridges were deep enough not to have my fingers slipping and sliding round the smooth shaft.
After the trouble with the smaller bulb, I confess I was a little hesitant to try the larger hooked end. I needn’t have worried, from the outset and during all of our sessions the larger bulb was a gentle giant and caused me no pain.
I adore the larger end of the MEO Big Johnny Steel Dildo, it more than makes up for my discomfort with the smaller end. At around £89 the MEO Big Johnny Prostate Stimulator is by no means the most expensive steel product on the market, though, I suspect it would still be classed as an investment purchase to some potential buyers, I personally feel it offers good value for money. I’m sure there will be many people who have positive experiences with the smaller end, it just wasn’t right for me.
