Lyps Iris Vibrator Review

By Cara Sutra

I must admit, out of the Lyps Bag of Dicks I received a couple months back, this is the toy which interested me the least. Judging just on appearances, I mean. When I first opened the Lyps Iris Vibrator box I mistakenly thought it was just a purple realistic dildo. It’s a little more than that.

The Lyps Iris Vibrator is one of 8 Lyps sex toys sent to me just prior to Christmas for testing & reviews here at CaraSutra. To give you an overview of their Bag of Dicks, here’s a labelled graphic I made:

Packaging

Been keeping up with my Lyps Online sex toys reviews? Then you’ll know the drill at this point. The Lyps Iris Vibrator came in a similar pink box, with just the Lyps logo on the front and a reference number on the back. I’m not impressed that there isn’t more info about the specific products on the boxes. However, at least the boxes are well-made, sturdy and shrink-wrapped over the glossy card for hygiene reassurance.

Inside The Box

As well as the Lyps Iris Vibrator, there’s a few other bits in the box. I received a nice storage bag with the Lyps logo, a charging lead (micro USB to typical USB) and a couple of small flyers. One is an instruction leaflet – which is incredibly brief. The other gives details of how to claim a freebie if you leave an honest Amazon review.

First Impressions

As I mentioned in the intro, I first thought the Lyps Iris Vibrator was a dildo. It’s Dildo Purple (it’s a colour, honest) and realistic penis in design. Apart from the colour, one hopes. But you know what I mean; it’s got the penis head tip and veining down the shaft. Unlike plenty of realistic dildos, though, the Lyps Iris Vibrator is on the slim side. This makes it attractive if you usually find dildos and vibrators too girthy for you. It’s not a problem I usually have, but I know there’s lots of vaginally petite women out there.

Not being a massive realistic/phallic sex toy fan, I wasn’t too interested in the penis stylings of the Lyps Iris Vibrator. However, I didn’t really care what it looked like as long as it was powerful enough to please – and an orgasm on top would be nice.

The Lyps Iris Vibrator is silicone coated (over the internal motor & mechanics) which was the first plus. Silicone is a great sex toy material. It’s non-toxic and non-porous, meaning it’s body safe for internal & external intimate use.

Charging Up

Before I could play with the Lyps Iris Vibrator, I needed to charge it up. Second plus point – it’s rechargeable. Although I’ve had some ok to pretty good experiences with battery powered vibrators, I find rechargeable vibrators much more reliable. I also don’t have to dig into my own stash of batteries, which some sex toy manufacturers seem to think you should keep topped up for their creations at all times.

It was easy to charge up the Lyps Iris Vibrator. The silver cap on the handle side of the Iris unscrews completely, revealing the micro USB port for the charging lead. A usual USB port is required for the other end of the lead and you’re away. While the Lyps Iris Vibrator is charging, a red LED lights up to let you know it’s doing its thing.

As I said in my Lyps Hummingbird Vibrator review, I’d prefer a cap which doesn’t unscrew completely from the main body of the toy. If you’re not very careful during charging then it would be quite easy to lose the cap. A cap which remains connected to the Lyps Iris Vibrator would be preferable. Even better would be a charging port which doesn’t require unscrewing an area of the vibe, while still retaining the waterproof capabilities.

Oh yes: it’s waterproof. Another tick in the box. The Lyps Iris Vibrator is doing well so far, but how about actually using it?

Operation & Functions

Lyps Iris Vibrator Review

The Lyps Iris Vibrator is easy to switch on and operate thanks to the one button near the silver base of the toy. Push to switch on, keep pressing to scroll through the settings, and press and hold to turn off. Nice and easy.

There are 10 functions, 3 of which are speeds and 7 of which are vibrating patterns. The motor seems to be close to the tip rather than the handle, which is a good idea in my opinion. It means the Lyps Iris Vibrator could be used for external stimulation as well as just internal (vaginal).

Trying It Out

I don’t tend to orgasm through vaginal penetration & stimulation, although I have been known to enjoy G-spot orgasms in the past. It’s a rare occurrence, unfortunately, and one which requires a strong and consistent come-hither motion coupled with clit stim to achieve. It’s not possible for me to have a vaginal or G-spot orgasm with the Lyps Iris Vibrator.

That said, I was curious whether the Lyps Iris Vibrator would be able to stimulate my clitoral area enough to give me an orgasm that way. It’s pretty typical for me to use classic vaginal or G-spot vibrators in this way; I reach orgasm easiest through clit stim.

Lyps Iris Vibrator Review

I’ve tried the Lyps Iris Vibrator both with water based lube and without. Personally, I feel more stimulation from the Lyps Iris Vibrator when I don’t use any lube. The lube makes the tip of the vibrator slip and slide more over my clitoris region, making it more difficult to get the precision stim I require. This isn’t helped by the fact that the Iris isn’t a fully rigid vibrator; the shaft bends quite a bit in the middle. I have to hold the tip against my clitoris in order to get close to the stimulation I need.

Does It Make Me Orgasm?

During the several times I’ve used the Lyps Iris Vibrator to masturbate, I’ve orgasmed just a couple of those times. Therefore it is possible, but it takes a hell of a lot of effort. I have to be in *just* the right mood and really egg on my arousal with fantasies and properly concentrate on orgasming. It’s definitely not an easy ride to climax.

Bear in mind that I’m a Doxy /  O-Wand kinda woman – the Iris might be plenty enough stimulation for you.

Lyps Iris Vibrator Review

As it’s so much of an effort for me to reach orgasm with the Lyps Iris Vibrator, I won’t be reaching for it again any time soon. Even if it was able to bring me to a clitoral orgasm easier it’s not the best tool for that specific job. It’s a realistic penis vibrator intended to be used vaginally.

I can orgasm using the Lyps Iris Vibrator vaginally when I add a clitoral sex toy to the mix, however I can’t really attribute that to the Iris. Give me a decent clit stim and it could be anything up my vag and I’d orgasm.

There’s an angling of the head on the Lyps Iris Vibrator but I didn’t feel it did anything to my G-spot particularly. The shaft of the Iris is a bit long for G-spot stimulation and the vibrator tip rather small in surface area.

Summary

There’s a lot going for the Lyps Iris Vibrator despite my struggles to reach orgasm with it. It’s a silicone covered, rechargeable, waterproof vibrator. It would suit people who like realistic style sex toys and want to add a bit of buzz. If that buzz doesn’t need to be jackhammer powerful, all the better.

The Lyps Iris Vibrator is fairly quiet during use. I’ve made the noise more prominent on the video above by pushing it against the surface, so you can hear the pattern types. It’s also very easy to charge up and very easy to operate.

Sadly, the Lyps Iris Vibrator isn’t ever going to make it into my faves collection. It’s just too difficult for me to reach orgasm with it. I don’t believe this is necessarily the fault of the toy, it’s more a case of us not being compatible. It’s a realistic penis vibe with low to mid range vibrations for vaginal stimulation; I prefer thunderously powerful and rumbly clit stim vibrators, aesthetics unimportant.
