I love being restrained and my bondage collection is currently growing faster than my toy collection, something I never thought would happen! I love the helplessness I feel when I’m tied up or bound. I was lucky enough to be sent the Loving Joy Bound Noir Nubuck Leather Slim Wrist Cuffs along with a Loving Joy Bound Noir Nubuck Leather Riding Crop by Cara Sutra as part of her Pleasure Panel, thank you Cara and Loving Joy for supplying both items in exchange for my open and honest review.
The wrist cuffs are beautifully made and definitely appealed to me aesthetically. The matte leather is soft, supple and smells delicious. While the strong, golden brass studs, D rings and buckles seem extremely unlikely to break in use. The chain however doesn’t look like it will hold up to long rough play; I’ve broken the chains on a few sets of cuffs in the past and while the chain on this set is stronger than most, I can feel the links starting to separate slightly when I pull and strain.
I have quite large wrists and hands, my wrists are 6.5 inches round, but I had to fasten the wrist cuffs on the tightest of the 5 fittings so these cuffs may not be suited to more petite users. It seems the “slim” in the product description refers to the width of the cuffs at just 2 inches rather than their length.
Lengthwise the padded mid cuff section is a little over 9 inches, this overlaps when you fasten the cuffs but doesn’t affect the comfort or wearability. At nearly 16 inches in total length including the straps, I can easily get the wrist cuffs around my ankles. On the biggest setting the cuffs measure 12 inches internally but there is additional length in the straps to add additional holes and increase the wearable length to nearly 14 inches if needed. Similarly, if you needed the cuffs to be tighter you could make them approximately 1 inch smaller.
The black leather and industrial looking metal work give the wrist cuffs a heavy-duty look, however, the super soft padded lining and slim width make them very comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time. I’m a very bratty sub and often end up with chaffed wrists with other cuffs but the Noir Cuffs have not cut into or marked my wrists regardless of how long I’ve had them on or how much I’ve pulled and strained on them.
Part of me does love the bite offered by my cheaper cuffs but quality wise they don’t even begin to compare.
The chain like is fully detachable making the wrist cuffs extremely adaptable. I have carabiners, hog ties, rope and various other restraints which I have been able to attach the cuffs using the D rings. I love the variety of ways I can use them meaning play is never predictable.
I’m certain the Loving Joy Bound Noir Nubuck Leather Slim Wrist Cuffs will remain firm favourites in my collection for a long time to come. They really are exceptional quality for the price and very versatile.
9/10 (only losing a point because I don’t think the chain will last much longer).
