Having spotted the Positive Vibes range on Lovehoney during the previous month (and coming really close to buying them on the 2 for £20 offer that is often there), I was really happy to see the range on offer during the Pleasure Panel round and was really happy to be chosen to review the Rainbow Classic offering.

Design
The range of “self-affirming” products includes a range of cutely decorated classic vibrators featuring this Rainbow design as well as other brightly coloured vibrators covered with different affirming quotes.
I kind of like the move away from plain colours and appearance and am a big fan of the real design or aesthetic effort that goes into sex toys now in comparison to previous times. However, as always it needs to come down to the performance of the toy; could it live up to its own billing?
Expectations
As the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator was priced at only £16.99 and frequently offered at 2 for £20, I really wasn’t expecting too much. My experience with toys in that price bracket was of hard plastic, high pitched buzzy toys that really didn’t leave me fulfilled or satisfied. I have often felt that at this price range, it would be better to wait and to put the cash towards something more substantial or something that will definitely get the job done. However, I was willing to approach with an open mind and the sense of positivity that the toy encourages.
Packaging
As expected the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator comes quite simply packaged, with it wrapped in a plastic container and then further enclosed by a cardboard case. This leaves nothing to the imagination as you can clearly see everything through the packaging. I liked this as it instantly allowed me to see that cute artwork that is covering the vibrator. The packaging also includes information about the materials used and the batteries required, however, more about that later.
I was a little taken aback upon opening up the packaging at the size of this thing, it is obviously not your discreet bullet style vibrator. However, the fact that it is covered in brightly coloured rainbows probably removes a certain sense of discretion already anyway.
Measurements
The full length of the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator is quoted at 8 inches, of which 6.5” is insertable. It also has a maximum circumference of 4.2” at its widest, which I found more than adequate during use. It is difficult to get across quite how cute this thing is, the bright colours and the pretty pattern really are my thing in comparison with the real life like offerings that this could be compared with, the move towards arty and cutesy design suiting my likes.
Material
So once unwrapped, I was surprised again at how this thing feels. I was expecting a realyl crude, solid plastic feel; however, it has a soft, slightly warm feel to it. Manufactured from ABS it really does not feel as though it is of the price range that this vibrator is offered at. The Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator obviously doesn’t have the softness of sex toys much further up the price brackets, but I was pleasantly surprised at how far sex toys of this price range and style had come compared with my previous experiences.
The material is also quoted as latex and phthalates-free, so no worries on either score there. A further bonus on the packaging describes the item as splash proof (not fully waterproof) so I guess that a little light shower play here should not be an issue.
Powering Up
The only thing that I was a little concerned with once unwrapping was how light the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator was. I did not fill me with confidence that it could really deliver much in the way of rumble. However, once I had found and put the 2 x C batteries it needs, it really began to add a feeling of bulk.
So, with the batteries easily added and the toy good to go, I applied some water-based lubricant (recommended on the packaging) and simply twisted the base to fire it up.
Vibrations
The Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator fluctuates from simple low setting to high setting with no further adjustments available. I found the low setting to be a little bit lightweight, however, once I reached mid-point upwards I really felt this thing was great. Resting it again my clit gave a really positive sensation and it offered a rumblier deep sensation that I expected for this price range.
The size of the vibrator felt good, with it able to offer a good level of penetration to deliver the vibrations as deeply as needed. With a very smooth and soft exterior it felt very easy to insert and slide away with and all in all, I really did enjoy the sensation it gave.
Clean-Up
Clean-up as always was very simple with a quick wash down with soap and warm water followed by a spray with a sex toy specific cleaner before drying and putting away. This is where I felt a little bit sad with this product, it really doesn’t belong in a drawer with its positive life affirming design choice… however, I am not ready for that level of display just yet.
Summary
All in all, I was really impressed with the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Rainbow Classic Vibrator. With the range frequently being on offer for as little as £10 each (2 for £20), I would say that this one really punches above its weight.
