With Lovehoney recently launching their “Lifelike Lover Collection” of dildos featuring 32 different shapes, sizes and styles, I was delighted to be chosen in the May Pleasure Panel round to try out the Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo With Balls.

With the strap line of “Pleasure doesn’t have to be complicated” I was looking forward to it arriving and then giving a no-nonsense toy a go to see if it can still deliver on the pleasure front without the bells and whistles of some of the toys I have reviewed or tried recently.

The range is cleverly placed, with four different sub-groups within the range: Basic, Classic, Ultra and Luxe ensuring that they cover a range of different prices and needs. With this dildo coming from the Luxe category I was particularly hopeful that it would live up to the billing.

The details on the website covering the Luxe range says: “Crafted from finest silicone, the Lifelike Lover Luxe collection of hyper-realistic dildos offers smooth, sleek and satisfying designs for your endless pleasure. Soft to the touch and irresistibly textured, these luxurious toys deliver supreme stimulation every time.”

So, when the parcel arrived from Cara I promptly opened it to find quite a pleasant looking packaging for this dildo. I have to admit that I was expecting just a simple box or plastic mould for the dildo to be sent in, however, Lovehoney clearly are marketing this as a more elegant sex toy and have done a nice job with the packaging and the description of the product on the outside.

One side of the Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo box shows a clear picture of the toy that obviously leaves very little to the imagination, another side detailing some information about the dual purpose of the toy for either solo play or as part of a harness set up for strap-on or pegging fun. Finally, there is also the information regarding the dimensions and material that the dildo is manufactured from (explaining that it is latex and phthalates-free – which is always good to know!).

With the packaging opened, it was clear that the dildo itself was hygienically sealed, and was actually quite difficult to remove from the box. Once out, I was really impressed to find that this dildo had been double bagged -and with the scissors on hand, I managed to release the purple beast into the wild.

The first thing that struck me about this dildo was the weight. It really is quite a meaty toy but the weight seems really well distributed and as a result the toy feels quite well balanced.

The silicone is soft to the touch and has only a slight give to it, all in all I think that they have really hit the nail on the head with the firmness of the Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo. It really does feel very good to the touch and gives the impression of a solid and sturdy product that will provide a filling sensation. The shaft has a certain amount of flexibility to it and it really does add to the lifelike feel of the product with the balance between firmness and flexibility quite well representative of an erect penis.

The size of this dildo is quoted at 8 inches, however, it is 7 inches of insertable length with the lifelike balls (which will add to the lifelike feeling whilst penetrating the toy to its maximum) as well as a suction cup at the very bottom making up the final inch or so of the dildo. The girth of the toy maxes out at 5 inches and this I would say feels more than a pleasant handful whilst looking at the product for the first time.

The veins on the shaft are quite well pronounced so I was looking forward to using the dildo to see if they provided extra sensation during penetration with this thing. One thing to be noted is that the colour is a very rich purple, so in terms of the lifelike appeal it loses a little for me in terms of the colour of the toy, unless you are the current lucky partner of a purple monster. I would say that on the Lovehoney website, the toy looks more of a blue, and if you are concerned about the colour, I would say that in real life it is definitely a purple and not the colour that it comes across on via their website.

One thing from the packaging and details on the Lovehoney website that I really like, is the dual purpose of this Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo. It is compatible with a range of different harnesses and can be used as a toy for couples’ fun as well as the solo aspect of the toy. This for me just adds even more value to the toy, in terms of not having to buy twice for the same function. Without owning a harness, I cannot comment on how easy this thing is to use with that setup but the write-up on Lovehoney would suggest good compatibility.

So on with some water-based lubricant (silicone based is not suitable as a result of the material the toy is made from) and away we go. This is when I thought to myself that this thing is fantastic!

As the head of this dildo penetrates, the detailed shape of the head that it is made from really gives that lifelike sensation of that first penetration and the ample girth really gave me a nice full sensation (you certainly know this thing is in there without it feeling too much). I cannot get across quite how well this thing fit me!

So, a little bit more and in with the shaft and the impact of the veins really hit me. I was a bit intrigued with these at first as it is a very veiny dildo compared to other (admittedly cheaper) toys that I had used before. They really add to the sensation and with the silicone so super soft and lubed up, they are not at all draggy or irritating, adding more of a gentle ribbed sensation during use. The deeper this thing went, the better it really did feel and I can say that it really did its job well. I can see this Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo getting a lot, lot more use in the future.

The suction cup on the end is fantastic and really strong, it holds what is quite a bulky toy in place and can really add to the different arenas in which this can add to sex, either with some bathroom play with it attached to the tiles or for some extra penetration use in the bedroom. Once attached, this is not for shifting. If anything, it was quite difficult to move once finished with, but a quick peel back at the corner got it budged.

As with a majority of silicone sex toys, cleaning up this dildo really was a doddle. A gentle wash down with some soapy water, followed by a spray and dry with a sex toy specific cleaning fluid and it was read to be packed away (but not for long!!!!).

All in all, I think that Lovehoney have really hot the spot with this Lovehoney Lifelike Lover 8 Inch Purple Realistic Silicone Dildo and I look forward to giving some of the rest of the range a look over in my shopping basket in the future.
