Looking for Love by Cindee Bartholomew, Book Review

By Pleasure Panel reviewer Petra Pan

I was sent this book (Looking for Love by Cindee Bartholomew) for free in exchange for my honest review. Thanks Cara!

Introduction

Looking for Love by Cindee Bartholomew reviewThere are there’s books in the series called ‘Siri’s Saga’ by author Cindee Bartholomew, and this is the first. It tells the story from the perspective of Maximus Aurelius Moore, a male playboy type who is nicknamed ‘Hard’.

The scene is set with Hard having a banter style conversation with a former army colleague. The reader gets a feel for the type of man Hard is; a good looking testosterone filled man who likes to enjoy numerous sexual liaisons with gorgeous women, who seem to adore him.

Partway through the story he visits Las Vegas and meets a dancer who knocks him sideways (not literally). She’s on stage and men and women adore her, and he falls head over heels for her.

What is the author’s writing style?

The book contains lots of American dialogue. It’s very male driven; I was surprised that the author is female as it felt like it was written by a man, not just because it is written from a male perspective, but the style of writing feels rather masculine. The sex scenes were also rather masculine in their description, and quite raw. There are a couple of twists and turns in the book, one of which is quite bizarre and doesn’t seem to fit in with the story but I won’t ruin it for you by telling you what it is!

Did it turn me on?

I’m afraid to say, no, it didn’t. In fact I found it quite irritating, particularly when his Italian fling kept referring to Hard as ‘Mister Very Big Man’. I suppose I prefer to read books written from a female perspective, and similarly with sex scenes.

Who would I recommend it to?

The sex scenes would probably turn on people who fantasise about big, muscular men and gorgeous scantily clad women. For me, it felt unrealistic and some of the dialogue made me cringe.

Summary

I didn’t feel the book was badly written, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
