LELO Massage Candle Review – Black Pepper And Pomegranate
By Cara Sutra
I was sent the LELO Massage Candle in Black Pepper And Pomegranate Scent free of charge in exchange for this fair and honest review. You can buy massage candles from LELO here at Simply Pleasure for £18.95.
I have been a long time fan of Jimmyjane Massage Candles and in terms of scent appeal the Yankee Candles are amazing. I have two Yankee candles on my desk to light in times of pressure, they really do ease the atmosphere and get me centred. Jimmyjane massage candles have featured in many of my sexploits through the years with both male and female sexual partners. Learning that LELO had created massage candles, a couple of years ago, I naturally wondered how they’d compare.
Now, I have one, and I was really excited to finally be able to checkout the LELO Massage Candle properly.
The LELO Massage Candle packaging was as elegant as you’d expect from LELO, as you can see in the pictures. I received it at the same time as the LELO MIA 2 Vibrator.
Removing the lid from the candle and the internal protective disc, I was a bit disappointed not to be immediately greeted with a powerful scent. In fact I could barely smell the candle at all.
LELO Massage Candle Info
The LELO Massage Candle stands at 3 inches tall, smaller than I had thought. The diameter across the top opening is 2.8 inches.
Ingredients: Glycine soja (soy) wax, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, perfum (D-limonene, linalool, hexylcinnamaldehyde).
Using the LELO Massage Candle
Lighting the LELO Massage Candle is easy, just trim the wick slightly before you do. There’s an instruction leaflet and everything. The ‘wax’ (Glycine Soja, or soy, wax) begins to melt into a pool of oil once the candle is lit. After about 20 minutes or so you can pour a small quantity into your hands, or directly on to your partner, and start the sensual and/or erotic massage.
- Luxurious, classy and elegant looking
- Very romantic to give as a gift (Valentine’s Day, birthdays, Christmas or any time of the year)
- Ornamental looking on the bedside, can be left out discreetly
- Scents available you wouldn’t easily find elsewhere
- Body safe for versatile (both relaxing and sexy) couples fun
- The scent isn’t very strong or immediately apparent upon opening or lighting
- Candle is quite small for the price
- The glass shouldn’t have black paint flaking from the rim even when it’s brand new
- The oil, once the candle has melted, doesn’t absorb into the skin as completely as other leading massage candle brands
LELO Massage Candle Summary
Although the LELO Massage Candle is doubtless a romantic gift and a beautiful adornment to any bedroom, it does let itself down in a few areas. I would prefer the scent to be a lot stronger, although I would need to compare the scent I have to the other candles in this same range before writing off the entire collection as weak in the scent department.
It’s expensive for the size, but not as expensive as the Jimmyjane candles. The oil does leave a heavier feel to the skin, more of a drag than a greasy feel though. Those who aren’t quite as picky won’t feel the need to immediately get up and wash off the residue, but I can’t even leave lip balm on my lips without having to scrub it off. The ingredients all appear to be body safe for external use, and the oil/wax melts at a temperature safe enough to be drizzled on to the body for a foray into waxplay, a departure from traditional romantic advances in foreplay.
Allowing couples to extend their bedroom adventures while unwinding at the end of a hard day, this LELO Massage Candle only needs a few improvements and it would rate a higher score. It works, it’s lovely, but it’s not the best I’ve ever had. At present, it’s getting 7/10 from me.
If you’d like to try out a LELO Massage Candle, you can buy yours at Simply Pleasure for £18.95. The other scents available are Snow Pear and Cedarwood, and Vanilla and Creme de Cacao.
