Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua Review
By Pleasure Panel reviewer The Big Gay Review
Anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I am a sucker for a good gimmicky package. This bottle of Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua comes packed inside a hand-grenade; can you get even more gimmicky than that? One can never have enough lube, so I opted to review this for the Pleasure Panel. Would this lube get me off (with a bang) or was it a complete misfire? Well there was only one way to find out…
As packaging goes, the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua is clearly trying to be hyper-masculine; with its weapon of mass destruction design. Or perhaps it’s just trying to be discreet? Because when I look at it, it doesn’t make me think lube. It makes me think of those novelty bottles of bubble bath I used to get for Christmas as a kid. It’d almost get away with it, if it wasn’t for the great big sticker down the side that says LUBE. Still, stickers can be removed…
There are 2 formulations of the Kamikaze Angel lube; Aqua (water-based) and silicone. I chose the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua as I was hoping to use this with some of my favourite silicone toys. You get a decent 250ml inside the bottle and despite being the oddest shaped bottle of lube I have come across, it actually makes it easier to grip onto during the heat of the moment (more later).
I used the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua in a couple of ways; solo masturbation and with toys. As a masturbation lube, it starts out delightfully silky and very slick. Initially I was quite impressed. With slow and steady strokes, things were gliding smoothly and it felt quite pleasant. Naturally, water-based lubes do tend to dry out, and the Kamikaze Angel is no exception. After a while, things got a little dry and a little bit sticky, and I knew it was time to re-apply. 2 good squirts from the pump was enough to keep things moist for a good 10 minutes or so, before I felt the major need to reapply.
As for use with masturbators, the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua performed quite well. I found it wasn’t absorbed as quickly as when just using it with my hands, and re-application is necessary during use, but thanks to the chunky design of the bottle, it was quite easy to grab, pump out a few more drops and continue, with very minimal fuss. So as a lube purely for masturbation, I like it, and it gets the job done.
However, I didn’t really rate it too much for use with things like dildos and plugs. Whilst the initial application is very slippery and allows for comfortable insertion, the water-based formula just dries out a little too quickly here, and I had to reapply more often; this kind of spoils the mood a little bit. To that end, I didn’t want to use this for penetrative sex, as I knew I was going to be uncomfortable.
So as purely a masturbation lube, I think the Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua is a great performer; it’s not too thick or runny, and it stays where it’s needed. It’s compatible with all masturbators and provides a slick sensation that delivers. As for use with insertable toys and for use during anal sex, I just don’t think the formulation is thick enough, and it dries out way too quickly. Might be better suited for PiV intercourse (although do check for sensitivities first – whilst it doesn’t contain glycerine or any parabens, this lube does contain a little citric acid which some people might be a bit more sensitive to).
On the (w)hole; not bad. Although I am honestly still trying to wrack my brains about WHY IS IT A HAND GRENADE? Oh well…
Kamikaze Angel Luxe Lube Aqua score: 6.5/10
