Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator Review

You might remember my failed attempts to find pleasure with the Fun Toys GVibe Mini Vibrator as detailed in my recent review. The folk over at FT London weren’t giving up however; they offered to send me the full size Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator to try out and report back on. Thanks FT London. It’s been an interesting ride.

First Impressions

Presentation of the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator is as you’d expect; similar to the GVibe Mini in a suitably larger package. The recognisable cylindrical container finished with the Union Jack on the lid, with the vibrator contained inside along with storage pouch, charging lead and instruction leaflet.

My Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator is a plum purple colour, but it’s also available in black and aqua blue.

Charging Up

Charging up before use was pretty simple thanks to the USB/magnetic red colour lead included. I quite like that the majority of Fun Toys charging leads are red; also because the end bears the FT logo it makes the lead instantly recognisable and easy to pick out when you have a drawer full of wires.

Unfortunately the connection between the charging lead and the metal points on the base of the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator isn’t the strongest, and I found I had to make sure I positioned the toy carefully so the connection stayed. You can tell whether the vibrator is charging up OK due to the LEDs which flash up behind the power buttons.

Buttons

There’s three buttons on what forms the handle of the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator: up, down, and in the centre is the ‘change pattern’ button. Press and hold up to turn on; press and hold down to turn off. Nice and easy.

The buttons are surprisingly easy to switch on, which is great and a  bit of an annoyance all at once. It’s fab that I don’t have to dig my nails into the toy in order to switch it on or increase the power, but I found at times I pressed one to many times or even switched on the toy by accident when I was simply picking it up off the side.

So how does it feel?

Insertion

As with the GVibe Mini, I was worried about discomfort when inserting a split-shaft vibrator. Hopefully this is understandable; the toy does look at first glance like it’s doing everything possible not to be inserted. Following instructions to hold the split tips together then insert vaginally does work to a point – it’s a good job I’m comfortable with my anatomy so I could position it exactly where I wanted it. I’ll let your imagination fill in those details.

Also – insertion in that way was a lot easier without lubricating the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator first. The addition of lube beforehand posed a risk of the toy flying across the room during the Insertion Grapple.

Vaginal Use

The control buttons are easily pressed during insertion, so I’d already felt a little of the vibration type and power the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator offers. After switching it off yet again while simply trying to put it inside, I was finally ready to find a vibration output I could enjoy – and hopefully, orgasm with.

Sadly, after trying out the variety of pulses and patterns the three motors in the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator offers, I have to conclude that I’m not going to magically find my vaginal-penetrative orgasm with this thing. It’s a nice sensation – I mean the vibration type as closest to my fave, ‘constant setting’ as I could find – but it’s not oh-my-jesuschrist-I’m-coming good. Not for me, anyway.

Clitoral Stimulation

Although I prefer the intense and constant clitoral stimulation provided by the more hardcore end of the vibrator market (think industrial strength), I’ve enjoyed many lighter-touch vibrators too. This is the category I’d put the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator into, as the split-tips provide a fluttering vibrating stimulation when used externally, rather than a press-against-the-body, ceaselessly powerful style of vibration.

Because the vibrations are travelling from the motors throughout the silicone surrounds, causing the tips to flutter against my clit and therefore stimulate it, I need to be mindful of how I’m holding the toy. It’s no good putting it flush against my body because that doesn’t allow the tips to flutter enough to stimulate – in fact, it can stop them moving almost entirely.

It can be difficult to keep a light enough hold on the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator during clit-based masturbation to reach an orgasm unhindered by a tut and a telling off from/to myself for doing precisely that. I find it a challenge to reach orgasm with the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator for that reason – I need to remember to hold it slightly away from my exposed clit to benefit from the flutterings, and not resort to being the lazy wanker I usually am.

Afterplay Ponderings

Although I am able to reach orgasm with the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator, it hasn’t magically become my go-to for an easy, enjoyable wank session.

I find The GVibe 2 a challenge for many reasons; difficulties inserting it vaginally as fully as I’d like while keeping the tips together (my partner shares this struggle when using it on me), the light touch required for clitoral stimulation as well as the vibration style not being my preferred type and the power not really up at jackhammer levels.

Size & Clean-Up

The Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator measures in at 9 inches overall length, with each split of the tip measuring 3.5 inches of that. The circumference of the central body of the vibrator is 4.25 inches, while the split tips when held together are just under 4 inches in circumference. At their widest, the tips are 3.9 inches apart – however the distance between them when using it internally will depend on how much pressure your body is exerting on them. I found that the tips didn’t spring to full width again inside me, because my vaginal walls will constantly try to push them together.

Clean-up after playtime is easy and difficult all at once. The Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator is waterproof, so it can be immersed in water while washing it, but I do find that dried fluids and dirt tend to stick around at the base of the shaft split. That small area where the bits of silicone meet in the V of the split. I’m putting bets on someone designing some Innovative! And Revolutionary! Sex Toy Floss™ in the near future.

Who’d Like It

I’d recommend the Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator for someone who either likes to keep their toy vibrations on the inside (vaginally) or who doesn’t need particularly powerful external vibrations. The vibrator is well made and to high-spec, being waterproof and magnetic-attach USB rechargeable, having an easy-grip finger loop and coming complete with its own storage pouch. It’s also very quiet for a vibrator (my partner can’t hear it from behind a closed door) and made with silicone which is non-toxic and non-porous. If you’re after something a bit different then the GVibe 2 could be an interesting discovery for you.

Final Thoughts

Sadly, it seems my body isn’t a fan of the GVibe split-shaft vibrators. It’s a shame not only because this particular style is something I’d never seen in a sex toy prior to FT London’s range, but also because a lot of thought seems to have gone into the design.

The Fun Toys GVibe 2 Vibrator did little to nothing for me vaginally – although I preferred the size to the GVibe Mini – and the clitoral orgasms were hard-earned and not really what I believe to be the main purpose of this toy. For that reason, it scores 6/10.
