Fleshlight Fleshlube Review & Fleshlight Fleshwash Review
By Cara Sutra
Along with the Fleshlight GO Torque Ice and Pink Lady Vagina masturbators my partner and I recently reviewed, Fleshlight sent their bedroom essentials for us to try too. The Fleshlight Fleshlube & Fleshlight Fleshwash were also sent free of charge for the purposes of these fair and honest reviews. Thanks Fleshlight!
Both bottles hold 118ml (4 fl oz) unlike the 100ml stated on the website. Someone needs to look into that. As you can see in the pics the bottles are transparent so you can see the clear contents, albeit with a blue tint to the lube bottle label (watery connotations) and a green tint to the sex toy cleaner bottle label (cleaning connotations).
The packaging feels modern, gender neutral and stylish, as well as giving you all the info you need about the products on the label. There is a hygiene seal which needs removing from the Fleshlube bottle (under the dispenser) before you replace the cap and can squeeze out the contents; there’s just a cap on top of the spray style Fleshwash toy cleaner bottle. Easy to figure out and we were ready to use the lube and cleaner along with the Fleshlights we received – and other sex toys already in our collection.
Water Based Lubricant by Fleshlight
The water based Fleshlube feels surprisingly silky, almost like silicone lubricant. It definitely doesn’t evaporate in your hands (or elsewhere) straight away, but we did need to use a fair bit of it in conjunction with the Fleshlight in order to keep things slippery. On my initial application to both him and the Fleshlight I’d been a little cautious and only used a few drops, trying to avoid over lubrication, but this led to the lube feeling sticky instead of slippery which definitely wasn’t the desirable effect. A good drizzle more and we were both satisfied with the slipperiness.
Unfortunately the Fleshlube comes in one of those bottles you have to physically pick up and depress one side of the cap and tip up to dispense the lube from, which isn’t as ideal as a simple pump dispenser top bottle which can remain on the side and be used one handed. On the plus side, you can easily close this bottle again by pressing the cap down so it’s shut before tossing it wherever you like without worry of it spilling. You may have a tiny bit of lube remnants around the rim near the opening but not enough to really cause problems.
Fleshlube felt slightly too tacky to both of us for it to become out favourite lube. Some people will no doubt like the silkier feel – almost silicone feeling, like I said – but for us it meant we wanted to wash it off straight after play. It felt simultaneously like it wasn’t quite slippery enough and that there was a residue coating left wherever it had been applied. Which wasn’t slippery. Quite odd.
This lubricant does have extract of Aloe Vera leaf, so it will be good for your skin (unless you suffer from allergies) but sadly it also contains glycerine. This is perhaps not too much of an issue for those buying Fleshlube to use with Fleshlight masturbators, but as a lube on the side of the bed where there’s someone with a vagina who may want to get involved with the play this could raise issues. Glycerine can affect the pH levels of the vagina and can lead to irritations (although I don’t seem to suffer that issue myself, so it’s not every woman) so take care if you’re planning on using this lube elsewhere than with a Fleshlight. It doesn’t contain any parabens and it also contains Vitamin E.
Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cellulose Gum, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate.
Overall we’d rate the Fleshlube 6 out of 10. Although the formulation is skin kind (to the penis and other areas of the body than vaginas) the stickiness combined with a lasting residue didn’t make us fall in love with it. Maybe I’ve been spoilt with the likes of Sliquid and Give Lube by the bedside, which are my favourite water based lubricants.
Anti Bacterial Sex Toy Cleaner by Fleshlight
We preferred the Fleshwash to the Fleshlube. Not for use as a lubricant, silly. Out of the two items, and this one to help clean sex toys. It’s easy to pop off the cap, liberally spray the surface of your thoroughly-just-rinsed-and-patted-dry sex toy with this formula. The size of the bottle makes it easy to hold and the pump gives a nice even and widely distributed spray.
Ingredients: Benzalkonium Chloride, Water, Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methyl Isothiazolinone, Blue 1, Yellow 5.
There’s not a lot more to say about the cleaner. It has a ‘clean’ fresh smell, not medicinal or hospital-ish like many alcohol based toy cleaners. It’s easy to use and did the job.
