DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil Review

I was very pleased to have been given the opportunity to review this product (thanks Cara!). I like both massages and strawberries, so this seemed like the perfect combination! DONA by JO is a collection designed by System JO and aimed towards women – although why it has to be gender-specific, I’ll never know. This collection claims to infuse aphrodisiacs and pheromones into their products, of which there is a wide range, from bath products to lingerie wash, linen sprays, and massage oils. The DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil is one of three flavours available, the other two being Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla Buttercream. All very dessert-y indeed! Right up my alley.

First Impressions
The DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil comes in a clearly labelled bottle with all the ingredients listed (yay!). The only ingredient that might be concerning is glycerine – however, this is a massage oil and not intended for use as a lubricant. Therefore I don’t find its presence worrying. On that note, do not use this as a lubricant, especially with latex products such as condoms. As is the nature of oils, they also tend to be more difficult to wash out of bodies, so I would stick to its intended purpose.
With regards to the pheromones and aphrodisiacs they infused, they had this to say on their website:
“The aphrodisiacs & pheromones used in DONA products are all 100% safe, containing no harmful chemicals, known allergens or harsh irritants. Our pheromones are synthetic and not derived from coyote urine, pigs or humans.”
It was reassuring to know that they had taken these things into consideration. As a plus, DONA by JO’s website states that all their products are gluten-free and vegan-friendly.

The DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil ingredients are as follows:
Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Natural and Artificial Flavours, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) Acetate, Passiflora Edulis (Passion Fruit) Seed Oil, Passiflora Incarnata (Passion Flower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Pistacia Vera (Pistachio) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Estratetraenol
Dispensation & Scent
The disc top cap worked well with dispensing the oil. I had to give it a squeeze to get the oil out, so how much oil you get depends somewhat on how much you squeeze the bottle. Even then, I did not find myself pouring too much and causing mess.
The fragrance of this oil produces is quite mild, but the hints of strawberry become stronger as you massage it into skin. However, if sniffed closely once it’s dry, I could smell the oil and I found the mix of oil and the sweet scent of strawberries a little jarring and unpleasant.

Consistency & Longevity
With massage oils, consistency is important. I expect them to spread well over skin and provide a smooth glide during the massage. It should also last long enough for a satisfying massage without requiring much reapplication.
I found that the DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil spread rather well – a single tiny drop covers the back of my hand and my wrist effortlessly. It is very easy to massage this into the skin and is smooth to the touch. However, I would recommend a more liberal application if you intend to give a longer, more satisfying massage as it dried out very quickly once the massage started.
I expected more of it considering it is oil, but unless I’m being generous with it, it begins to feel somewhat sticky after a few minutes. This might be good for those who would prefer something that dries sooner rather than later, and allows for quicker play, but I personally prefer a more prolonged massage, so this was a little disappointing.
Taste
This product is also labelled as a kissable oil, and from that point of view I would say that it did not taste like anything in particular. Perhaps because the flavours are weak, but all I was left with were temporarily oily-feeling lips. When licked, the DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil tasted neither bad or incredible, which is not a bad thing in my books.
When the oil dries, it does leave behind a residue that is ever so slightly sticky and greasy, but otherwise not very noticeable. This means you could go from a massage to other parts of play without needing to clean yourself off. The label on the bottle includes a warning that this oil may stain sheets, so I would avoid dripping too much over the body. There were no stains to be found once it had dried up.
Arousal Levels
Being marketed as something with pheromones and aphrodisiacs did have me wondering what effects the DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil might exert. I personally don’t think I experienced any form of increased arousal due to the oil itself. Massages on their own can be very sensual so I also tested this alone as well, and decidedly felt no noticeable changes in my level of arousal.
Summary
All in all, I’d say this is a decent massage oil. I’m left unconvinced by the claims of increasing attraction and arousal, and the flavour was not quite strong enough for my liking.
The scent of strawberries during massage does add another dimension to play, and the DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil spreads well without leaving too much residue once dry. On top of that I had no reactions to it despite the many ingredients listed, which is always a plus in my books.
Ultimately, whether this will suit you comes down to personal preference. If you want drawn out sessions or are after something with stronger scents and flavours, then you might not like this. Conversely, if you are after subtly sweet massage oils or want something for quick sessions, then the DONA Strawberry Soufflé Kissable Massage Oil might be perfect for you!
