Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise Review

By Rattigan

I was selected to review the Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise for the Pleasure Panel. At the moment I am mainly interested in trying beauty items, so I was pleased to be chosen. Cara always sends her items faster than the speed of light so within a day, the item was with me. Time to get cracking then!

I like the look of the packaging. The Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise comes in a 100ml squeezy tube, but it is available in a 213ml tube as well. Through Simply Pleasure, the smaller version retails at £6.95 and the larger at £10.95 (be aware that Simply Pleasure have accidentally added an extra zero to 100ml on the website, so it reads as 1000ml).

The tube has a convenient flip top cap which also stands the product upright. There is a very attractive shimmery, yet matte pattern on the top of the tube which I found drew me to the product.

I do find the word ‘Coochy’ misleading though. Placed at the top of the bottle, it implies it is the brand name. From a bit of browsing online I have discerned that the brand name is actually ‘Classic Erotica’, which is nowhere to be seen on the front of the tube and is only mentioned in tiny print on the back. It is all a bit confusing. I don’t understand where the word ‘Coochy’ comes into it. Perhaps it is a play-on-words? American slang for vagina? The company are American so that would make sense I guess.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise can be used as a hair conditioner as well. It is great to see a shave cream with more than one use! My dreadlocks mean I am very selective about what products I wash my hair with, but I have a fringe that I dye regularly and like to pamper with hair masks and nice conditioners. I was starting to look forward to trying the product.

The directions are on the back of the tube. Simply apply to wet skin and apply a thin layer. Shave, then rinse off. I did exactly that, testing it on my underarm area. It worked nicely, and I could certainly feel the nourishing properties. I suffer terribly with razor burn and ingrown hairs. This product claims to stop red bumps after shaving. I am pleased to say I had no problems with redness or a rash.

The product is keen to emphasise the tropical scent it carries. It is infused with acai berries and mango, giving it a supposedly tropical smell. I don’t disagree that it smells somewhat fruity, but the more I used it the more I was reminded of medicine I was given as a kid. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was a bit unexpected.

I also decided to try the product as a hair conditioner. After washing my fringe well, I applied the Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise and left it for 1-2 minutes as directed. When done, I rinsed my fringe thoroughly. I found the product just as good as my usual hair conditioner and the leftover smell was not overpowering in the slightest. It left my hair silky and in good condition.

I was pretty chuffed with the Classic Erotica Coochy Shave Cream Island Paradise despite the confusing name. The bottle looks great and the product left my skin and hair feeling silky, smooth and smelling nice. I had no skin complaints and found it to be as moisturising as it claims to be.

8/10
