Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator Review

By KurosakiKun

A vibrator named after the Goddess of Earth, the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator is a first for me -and the world, apparently!  Boldly stating on the front of the packaging it is the “World’s first biodegradable vibrator”, this certainly made me curious and warranted a spot of research to see exactly what this vibrator is all about.

Made from what the company call “BioFeel bioplastic”, the material used is a polymer compound mixed with cornstarch!  Now I’m not massively clued up on plastic production, but from what I can ascertain, conventional plastic is normally made from petroleum, whereas bioplastic is made up from organic biomass!  In turn, this plastic make-up enables the vibrator to biodegrade in a commercial compost facility within 47-90 days, an eco-friendly sex toy first.

As well as being as friendly to Mother Earth as your average member of Greenpeace, the Gaia has a whole list of awesome features:

  • The bioplastic is lab certified non-porous and body safe
  • Fragrance free (something I always mention in reviews!)
  • Phthalate free (great if you have health concern regarding)
  • Hypoallergenic – unlikely to cause any allergic reactions
  • Recyclable
  • Multispeed vibrations with power dial.

On receiving the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator for the first look, you can tell the whole design has been based around the idea of being eco friendly.  The box it arrives in is simply cardboard, no plastic inserts or windows, simply open it up and take out your vibrator (remember to recycle the packaging!).

On first looks this isn’t a massively inspiring vibrator, rather slim and a kind of pale green that is flecked with white, like it’s made out of recycled cardboard.  It’s a classic vibrator shape, like a throwback to simpler days.  The cornstarch plastic is solid and has no give at all, applying pressure should be no problem and the gentle taper to a shallow point means you should also be able to give precise vibrations wherever they are needed!  Being non-porous, the material allows for the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator to be used externally or internally but I would advise against any anal play as there is nothing to stop this going too far in.

At 7 inches overall with 5.75 inches of insertable length, 1 inch wide and 3.5 inches of girth, the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator is not going to push the boundaries of any size queen, but I think is a great size for anyone who wants to try a vibrator without being intimidated by something too large.  Coming in at under £10, it also slips into that demographic as well; you wouldn’t want to spend £150 on a top of the range vibrator to find you hate it.

The Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator is powered by 2 AA batteries which is a breath of fresh air, no hunting around for some round watch batteries or stealing the AAAs out of the TV remote (we’ve all been there).  The base of the vibrator simply screws off and there is a plastic insert which can be pulled out which shows you which way the batteries are inserted.  Now here is where I encountered a problem, entirely my own fault though as I like to use rechargeable batteries.  When it came time to take them out, I couldn’t get the second one out no matter how hard I shook the thing.  Luckily though, the plastic insert enabled me to pull the battery out after I discovered it was there.

Onto the strangest part of the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator, that I’m not 100% why it’s there.  In between the screw cap for the battery compartment and the rest of the vibrator is a green ring which is forever loose.  Even with the end screwed on tight is spins loosely with a visible gap, instantly this makes me think it’s the perfect place to harbour lube and any assortment of bodily fluids and bacteria.  Not only that, but it has a habit of falling off as soon as you unscrew the end.  Only thing it seems to be is a fiddly extra part to have to clean.

Turning the vibrations of the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator on is simple. The base simply twists to the right to turn on and increase speed, and turns left to decrease speed and switch off.  I like this method of speed instead of perhaps having three set speeds as you can very gradually set your own pace and build up that orgasm at your own will.

The vibrations are rather rumbly and the vibrator jumps around nicely when held loosely. I always prefer a vibrator with AAs instead of AAAs as you generally get more power which this vibrator isn’t lacking.  At full tilt you get a decent amount of power; nothing compared to a corded power toy but for under a tenner I think it’s got a damn good amount of power.  The vibrations are predominantly concentrated in the tip of the shaft and don’t attempt to give you vibration white finger by vibrating the entire thing unnecessarily.

Orgasm-wise, we were pretty impressed with the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator, it builds up and executed some pretty powerful orgasms for both of us, for her we found it much more effectively used for clit stimulation rather than internally.  Equally we found that for myself it brought about an excellent frenulum led orgasm.

I have read a few people saying that this vibrator is great to use in the bath or shower, but the packaging advises that the Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator is splash proof, not waterproof. The loose plastic ring I mentioned previously looks like it would let a lot of water in if submerged.  With this in mind, I think that removing the batteries completely before cleaning would be advisable -and at the same time, get that pesky plastic ring cleaned!  Warm soapy water and a spritz of good quality sex toy cleaner will keep the vibrator in good shape if your store it correctly.  Remember not to store it in a compost heap though or you’ll have nothing left in 90 days!

Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator Review

The Blush Novelties Gaia Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Green Vibrator surprised us if I’m honest; I expected a bit of a damp squib but was very much pleasantly surprised.  I’ll give it 8 out of 10 for strength of vibration, orgasm and value for money!
