The very friendly people are AVE Concept got in touch with me a couple of months back about reviewing one of their new products. I must admit I was quite confused during my first visit to the site, which is undoubtedly incredibly stylish but wasn’t at first glance a sex toy site. Lavish imagery and a high end feel design made me feel welcome however, and eventually I got comfortable navigating the website and discovered the products.

Alto is a twist on the traditional rabbit vibrator with dual stim, while Cirrus is a vaginal vibrator. Both products come in a choice of white or royal blue. AVE Concept very generously sent me the Sky Cirrus Vibrator in royal blue, free of charge, in exchange for this fair and honest review. Thank you ūüôā

The Sky Cirrus Vibrator has also come to be known as ‘the cloud vibrator‘ in the blogging circles I follow, for obvious reasons. I never thought I would desire a vibrator shaped like a cloud, but it seems I’m not alone in my admiration for this design. There was much envy when I declared I’d received this vibrator to review.

Sky Cirrus comes in a very attractive box, as you’d expect from such a design-led company. Removing the outer sleeve (which had some product information on) revealed the lidded box containing the vibrator and accessories.

Removing this lid revealed the vibrator safely nestled inside a firm sponge-feel surround designed specifically for it. Taking out the vibrator I was then able to easily lift out the safety cushion area thanks to a looped ribbon at one end. Underneath this I found the vibrator accessories – charging lead, storage pouch and instruction manual.

Charging up

Charging up the Sky Cirrus vibrator was simple enough; the lead is USB and the other end has magnetic nodes which attach to the corresponding area on the base of the vibrator. ON a table I found the magnetic charging worked really well, but on the carpet to a USB to mains adaptor it could be a little temperamental. I found it best to set the vibrator on a firm flat surface near the USB port or USB to mains plug so it didn’t wobble or get knocked loose while charging.

There’s a small blue lightning symbol which flashes slowly to let you know it’s charging too. Cute and relevant!

After leaving it to charge up overnight I was ready to give the Sky Cirrus Vibrator a try. I must confess I had to read the instruction leaflet first as I couldn’t see how to switch it on. There’s some arrows indented on one portion of the wider part of the vibrator (correctly assumed to be the handle) but pressing this did nothing. It turns out that the central bulge without any indicators is the ‘on’ and ‘increase intensity’ button, while the arrows above is the ‘change mode’ button and the bulge underneath (no indentations) is the ‘decrease intensity’ button. Once I had that figured out, operation wasn’t a problem.

Operation and modes

There are 7 ‘modes’ to this vibrator:

  1. Constant vibration
  2. Pulse
  3. Faster pulse
  4. Ascending
  5. Oscillation
  6. Alternating motor fast pulse followed by dash-dash and repeat
  7. Varying pulse between the two motors, feels random

You can select your speed by pressing the central button to increase or the lower bulge button to decrease. Keep holding this one to turn off. The vibrator will begin on constant vibration mode regardless of which mode you switched off in. This does mean you always know where you are. There’s no scroll back through the modes; upon reaching the last one you will be back at constant vibration with another press of the mode change button.

Measurements

During Use

So how did it feel for me?

It was ok. This is, no doubt about it, a beautiful vibrator. It’s sensational because of its unique design. There’s a luxurious, sumptuous feeling associated with using it which will appeal to high end, designer sex toy collectors. If you can’t see a new luxury toy¬†without needing to add it to your toy box immediately, this one will probably be for you. But for orgasms? Hmm, maybe. I’m an unapologetic power queen so there was always little chance the SKy Cirrus would live up to the bone rattling vibrations of the Doxy Wand. That’s ok – I do love other vibrators which aren’t at that level of power. For some reason though, Sky Cirrus doesn’t give me an orgasm.

There, I said it.

I’ve tried to orgasm with the Sky Cirrus over the past couple of months, and nothing doing. I’ve had orgasms while the Sky Cirrus was ‘in use’, but that’s because it was in my vagina and I was using a clitoral stimulator (read: bullet vibrator) at the same time – so I probably would have orgasmed from the clit stim alone anyway, the Sky Cirrus simply adding a pleasurable internal accompaniment at the same time.

The top level constant vibration isn’t enough for me to orgasm clitorally with – but I know that’s not how you’re ‘meant’ to use it. It’s a vaginal vibrator. I don’t orgasm through vaginal stimulation alone, though (like many women) so all the Sky Cirrus could ever hope to be in that way is a sibling stimulator to an orgasm-inducing piece of clit stim I use on the side.

If you are a woman who adores internal, vaginal vibrations, but¬†can’t tolerate the intense power of magic wand vibrators or the iGino, then you will probably like the Sky Cirrus. As a vibrator it offers mid to high vibrations in my opinion, which aren’t as top level angry wasp-butt buzzy as the Nalone Fifi, but aren’t as rumbly as the LELO Smart Wand Large. Think somewhere between the two.

A potential buyer’s main point of contention may be the price. For a vaginal vibrator, just short of ¬£100 isn’t an amount everyone can afford to just splash out without a care. Sure, the Sky Cirrus is waterproof, cordless, rechargeable, silicone – but many other cheaper vaginal vibrators also have these facets at a lower price. I believe the price tag covers the allure of the unique design, which *is* genuinely beautiful. This is an artisan piece which would adorn a bedside, rather than act as a tool to be used for a quick wank before a bathroom rinse and being shoved back in the drawer. It makes me want to display it somehow, perhaps frame it on the wall.

…because I won’t be using it to achieve an orgasm, sadly.

Other points to consider? You’ll need a nail brush or similar to clean the Sky Cirrus vibrator as the very pretty silver coloured scrolling is a pain in the proverbial when it comes to capturing every ounce of vagoo juice. Seriously – clean this sex toy properly as soon as possible after using, even though this can ruin the post-glow moment, because if you wait til morning then you’ll be scrubbing for a while.

On the top level speed it’s not the quietest of vibrators. I feel I can’t really comment here too much, given that my two top favourite vibrators (the Doxy Wand and iGino) sound like a jackhammer and the soundtrack to Psycho respectively. If you need a whisper-quiet vibrator (a term often applied to¬†vibrators but rarely accurately) then make sure you’re also the sensitive type who won’t need to use this on the top speed to get off.

The cloud outline lends itself more to women who desire ridges to envelop during masturbation. It’s something new, something abstract – so is the perfect shape for women who are bored with cylindrical styles or for one reason or another don’t like phallic/realistic vibrators.

Summary

In my opinion…

Don’t buy if you are simply shopping for a powerful vaginal vibrator but don’t want to spend over the odds on something which may not work for you.

Buy it if you have £100 to spend on a unique, gorgeous designer-look sex toy which will make you the envy of your (randomly bedroom-visiting) mates, and you orgasm from mid to high vibrations inside your vagina.

The Sky Cirrus vibrator is waterproof, rechargeable, made from body-safe silicone and a beauty to behold, but whether the designers had their heads in the clouds or will lead you to seventh heaven is sure to be a matter of personal opinion. I wouldn’t pay out for it myself, but I’m on the fence with one foot in a¬†divinely designed Eden, and the other in an orgasmless abyss.
