Sexpo isn't a completely new venture, having enjoyed several successful shows around the world such as the US and Australia. November 2015 was the turn of the UK’s capital, and London welcomed Sexpo wholeheartedly and hoped we had a worthy predecessor to the much-missed Erotica show.
Following on from this call for BlogSpot at the ETO Show 2016 sponsors, I'm very happy to announce the several companies and fellow bloggers who have come forwards with support for this exciting project. Thank you so much - you're making a bigger and better BlogSpot possible for everyone.
It’s my second day back in the office after the amazing 10th anniversary year of the ETO Show, the UK’s biggest and best adult industry expo run in association with the widely read industry publication ETO Magazine. My head is still spinning from the entire weekend and my legs are sore from walking around and having to be vertical for so long instead of merely transporting me between desk, coffee station, and bed. Writing up this post event report is almost too mammoth a task to imagine. The ETO Show 2014 encompasses so much news that I have actually split the report into four parts to make it a little easier to digest.
Our driver drove my partner Sable and I down to the hotel early Thursday evening. Our hotel, The Mercure, is a beautiful Victorian property overlooking the sea. We had an upgraded, seaview room and once we arrived we settled in immediately. It was late after the long drive from Lincolnshire to the south coast so after a much-needed shared bottle of wine from room service we slept soundly.
The past year has disappeared in a haze of sex & sex toys, and it’s almost time for one of the biggest events of the adult industry year – the ETO Show & Awards. This year is the 11th year of the ETO Show, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham UK. You can find the exact location on the Google map at the end of this post. The ETO Show is happening on the 28th and 29th June. The doors open at 10.30am each day and close 5pm Sunday, 4.30pm Monday. if you'd like to attend, you'll need to be a part of the adult industry in some way and you can register for an entry pass here. Even with an entry badge you will need to bring proof of trade status with you, such as your business card. Follow ETO Magazine & ETO Show on Twitter, and like Erotic Trade Only on Facebook to stay up to date with all the news.
By Cara Sutra: Pride has become an increasingly significant and strongly emotive movement for me. Not only are both my partner and I bisexual, we fall into the area of LGBTQ which is still incredibly misunderstood and which is surrounded by all sorts of ridiculous myths. I visited my first Pride last year and was delighted to be able to visit again this year - not just with my partner (and minnie also came along and drove us) but also with the elder of my two sons, who is 11.
Entry is just £5 and remember, all proceeds go to charity - so dig deep! There are some big names supporting this event on the night, such as The Body Shop, Clarins, L’Oreal, Molton Brown, Francesca DeRosa Jewellery, Forever Living, Yankee Candles, Fairy Godmother Lighting, Glitter Box, It Works Ultimate Body Wraps and more.
By Cara Sutra: Our trip to Erofame Germany 2015 (the European adult industry trade show; find the official website here) was more fun and eventful than ever before. It was also the first trip out of the country for my partner Darren & I together (aw) so we had double cause for celebration. I’m really pleased that Darren (find his website at Sablecraft) was able to come with me on this occasion, not only because I miss him so much when I’m away but also because he’s quite renowned by this stage as being a fantastic IT consultant and web dev for the industry.
Sexhibition 2015 was a memorable experience, for various reasons. The erotic event of the year took place at Event City Manchester, which is right by the Trafford Centre, and promised to bring together adult industry exhibitors, porn stars and other adult entertainers in one glamorous, spectacular event.
By Hella Rude Working in the adult retail sector is super-happy fun times and most people working in the industry have full-time contracts or their own company, so as a freelancer you feel somewhat disconnected from everyone. It's therefore unusual to form a bond with anyone who isn't your client. You know and like lots of folk, but there's never any real time to forge friendships.
The weekend of the La Boudoir Boutique Boiler Room opening finally rolled around and excitement was at an all time high. I have no idea where this year’s gone, but after moving the opening date from September to November I thought it would feel like ages before the day was upon us.
I woke surprisingly early on Sunday morning, the first day of the ETO Show 2014. The doors didn’t open to the public until 10.30am, but Julian was going to be at the stand at 8am in order to make sure everything was perfect. I arrived about 8.45am, leaving my partner Sable in bed and minnie getting ready. Walking around the corner from the hotel to the NEC expo hall I mentally prepared for the day ahead. I felt excited but not nervous - this was the ETO Show after all and it feels like family being with all the familiar faces and great contacts in the industry that I talk to regularly.
During the weekend, some amazing people were promoting electro sex toys, with none other than Linsey Dawn McKenzie stopping by for an ElectraStim demo. The fantastic Anna Quinn and Ruby Derriere were running rampant with an ElectraStim paddle and pinwheel while the breath-taking Goddess Sophia picked up an electro strap-on and spanking paddle for use in her dungeon, which she was trying out on TV Goth Natalie on some of the bondage furniture.
I’m worried about hearing the right words when people ask questions. That’s quite before the fact that I just don’t like my voice. Writing seems to comfortable, compared; when you’re reading words you can imagine the perfect pitch and tone of voice. Never any hesitation or stuttering, no breaking voice, no awkward pauses. No scrabbling around in the corners of your mind for the right way to say this out loud.

By Cara Sutra: The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, the world’s largest youth focused HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention campaign, and Durex, the world’s largest condom brand working in sexual health for more than 80 years, today announced a landmark collaboration, Ignite Change, to inspire young people around the world to take charge of their sexual health.
Erotic World Book Day Led by powerhouse columnist and erotic author Emily Dubberley of Cliterati, the world of erotic authors have united to create Erotic World Book Day. It is also being held on March 5th and it’s a cause that I fully support and hope you will be involved with too. The main locations for Erotic World Book Day discussion right now are on Facebook (group and page) and you can also find out more through Cliterati’s twitter. Another great source of erotica information and news are the Smut UK team, also on Facebook and Twitter.
...you book the centre of the hall and turn it into a mini club, along with banging tunes, a large visual display with video, free bar with food and alcohol, soft drinks, coffee and more, as well as freebie t-shirts, fluffy topped pens, goodie bags, freshly laid on pretzels and a friendly team. I was amused that at lunch time the Pipedream team obviously didn't care for the German laid on catering and instead decided to go out and rob a McDonalds for their hard working crew members. Doing it right.
The ETO Awards are always a spectacle to attend and behold, and the ETO Awards 2014 dinner, presentation and dancing was no different. In fact, it was even bigger, crazier, happier and hotter than last year. You can read the full list of winners on the ETO Magazine website here. No matter whether you’re nominated for a coveted ETO award or simply attending and soaking up the much needed annual celebration of our wonderful industry, everyone agrees that it’s an exciting and fun night. I’d headed back from day one of the show at 4pm, earlier than the closing time, to get ready and try to relax a little before the night got into full swing. I took my time getting ready, soaking up every moment of this special night away from the desk and anticipating so much fun and excitement.
