How To Join The Pleasure Panel & Be A Sex Toy Tester
If you would like to be a sex toy tester, reviewing sex toys & other adult products, the Pleasure Panel project and community is where it’s at. It doesn’t matter if you have your own sex blog or not, sex bloggers and sex toy fans without a blog are welcome to join.
About The Pleasure Panel
The Pleasure Panel project allows people other than myself to review sex toys and adult products and for those reviews to be published here at CaraSutra. A couple of years ago I found I was receiving too many products to possibly review myself – so why not enlist the skills of other sex toy bloggers and the community? This project has been growing in momentum since it started in summer 2015, and there are now 70+ active reviewers in the Pleasure Panel community.
Some of the sex toys reviewed by the Pleasure Panel
You may have heard about the Pleasure Panel by reading the guest sex toy reviews here at the blog, or seeing them linked to from the Cara Sutra Twitter or the @PleasurePanel Twitter. Or perhaps you’ve read about the new ’rounds’ in the weekly Cara Sutra newsletter, or seen one of the sex toy tester rounds on the forum.
How To Join The Pleasure Panel
No matter how you came to hear about the Pleasure Panel, it might be baffling to figure out how to get involved. It’s a bit like when you start a new job I guess; everyone already working there is settled in, has their own desk, knows where the kettle is and how to get into the stationery cupboard.
I wanted to write this post to clearly explain how to join the Pleasure Panel, in easy steps that will not just make the process hassle-free for you, but will lower the amount of emails I’m sending with the same reply. 😉
1. Complete The Application Form
Firstly, please complete this application form. This gives me a little information on the types of products you’d ideally like to review, your thoughts on product materials and if you’re sensitive to any materials/ingredients.
Once you send this application form I will reply as soon as I can to confirm receipt and welcome you.
2. Create A User Account
Pleasure Panel reviews at CaraSutra are assigned to the specific reviewer’s username. In this way people can see who’s reviewed what, plus you get a pretty awesome author page on the site which shows your bio, your avatar (which is pulled through from Gravatar, use the same email as on Gravatar to show your avi) and all the reviews you’ve written.
Click Sign In/Join riiiight at the top of this page, then a pop-up will open where you can enter your details and open your user account.
Make sure you choose the username you really want, as this can’t be changed once the account is created. Ideally your username will be more than one or two characters, and something which keeps you anonymous online (if anonymity is required).
Any other personal details you provide whether on your profile or to myself directly will never be publicly accessible or shared with any third party without your express consent. I am registered with the ICO Data Protection Register (registration number: ZA100687) so you can interact with complete confidence.
3. Send Your First Review
I ask that new members of the Pleasure Panel send me a review for a product they already own, before I will send out something to review as part of the rounds.
There are various reasons for this; partly so I can see your writing style and partly to show genuine reviewing intentions on your part.
This first review, like all reviews, should be at least 300 words in length (preferably at least 5-600 to be thorough), and should be sent either in the body of an email to me or as an attached Word/text document. Please also attach at least a few photos of the product (not during use though, they’d be best off on a different sort of website).
I can only accept reviews which are not published elsewhere on the internet, whether on your own blog or on a retailer’s website. This is very important, all reviews for publication at CaraSutra must be unique to this website (both before and after publication).
If you’re struggling to know what to write about, think about your first impressions of the product back when you bought it, how it’s packaged, what it’s made of, the size and how it’s operated/used then how it felt to use it. Were there any issues, anything you’d change? Or was it all a-ok? Then finish up with your final thoughts and (because this is how my reviews work) give it a mark out of ten.

4. Subscribe To The Newsletter
If you’re not already a newsletter subscriber, sign up here.
My newsletter is sent every Friday, and is the only place people can find out the exact date and time of the Pleasure Panel rounds (or become a Patron and find out before everyone else).
What Is A Pleasure Panel Round?
A Pleasure Panel round is when the thread goes up on the Cara Sutra forum, notifying people of just what’s available to be volunteered for and reviewed that month. I strive to create monthly Pleasure Panel rounds, although this depends on whether I’ve received enough products from companies for reviews.
Once the ’round’ is live, the Pleasure Panel can volunteer for the products they’d like to review, and I come back the next morning to assign the products. Make sure I have the correct name & address details for you! This will avoid delays/the possibility of your item being delivered to some unsuspecting (but pleasantly surprised) stranger.
Support The Pleasure Panel
I’m very grateful to every single person who contributes directly to the Pleasure Panel project and the work I put into it. As well as the days I spend every month working on the rounds, photographing products, editing, liaising with and negotiating new products from companies, I also regularly face a hefty bill for the safe & very discreet packaging I use, both UK & international postage and the Pleasure Panel rewards I send out (based on how many reviews you’ve had published, via the Leaderboard).
You can support the project directly by becoming one of the Cara Sutra Patrons.
As well as the happy knowledge you’re supporting the Pleasure Panel and Cara Sutra, Patrons also get a few extra perks. Patrons are first to hear when the new Pleasure Panel round will be then have priority assigning in those rounds.
Then there’s the exclusive behind-the-scenes Patron newsletter sent at the end of each month, which contains news, gossip, home life tales and photos not accessible anywhere else.
Hopefully this guide has made the process of joining the Pleasure Panel a little easier, and I look forward to welcoming into our sex toy tester community very soon.
