4 Things To Consider Before Picking A Vibrator

4 Things to Consider Before Picking a Vibrator

Although it’s exciting, shopping for a vibrator can be an overwhelming experience. 30 years ago there were wand massagers. In 2016 there are smartphone enabled, g-spot specific, battery powered vibrators that vibe with music. Sex shops are now a jungle of new products.

If you get the right one though, it can be life changing (and mind blowing). Everyone’s different though and just because your girlfriend loves hers, doesn’t mean it’s right for you.

To help you pick the right vibe for you I’ve put together four things to consider before making your pick.

  1. Is it waterproof?

I put this number one because I love bringing my vibrators in to the tub and shower – it’s the perfect way to let go after a tough day. They’re not the only place I masturbate, but being in water is definitely my favorite place.

So when I’m shopping for a vibrator I usually look for it to be waterproof. Some people don’t like to play in the water though and that’s totally up to you! Waterproof generally means it’s more expensive so save some money if it’s not for you.

  1. What style do you want?

Not every vibrator is well suited for every situation. That’s the main reason why I have a growing collection of vibrators. I love use a clit vibrator when I’m getting fucked – it puts me over the top. When I’m solo in the shower I might a rabbit vibe.

I’ve put together a little infographic on the most popular types of vibrators you can buy. Take a peek!

  1. What about size?

Screw what people say about size – it definitely matters. If something is going inside of you it needs to be the right length and circumference (girth).

Lets start with length. You want a toy that’s long enough that it can go as deep as you want it to. This isn’t relevant if you just want a clit vibe, but is something you need to think about for any insertion vibrator. It’s something that you need to test out yourself but I’d opt for longer over shorter. You don’t need to put it all the way in after all!

Now for circumference. You want a vibrator that feels comfortable when it’s inside you. If it’s too small you won’t feel it and if it’s too big it’ll feel like it’s impaling you.

The best way to test it out is to see how many fingers feel good inside you. Is it one, two, three.. four? Get that same number of fingers together, wrap a string around it and measure the string. That’s the circumference you’re looking for. Reputable online shops will give you the circumference measurement and you can use that number to pick one.

  1. Do you care about settings?

I like starting off with a lower setting and working the way up close to the max before I come. Some vibrators offer 10+ settings which means you can choose whatever tickles your fancy.

These settings can be speed of the vibration. They can go from an almost non noticeable rumble to full out earthquake.

Or they can be different pulses. This lets you choose a constant rumble or a pulse. Some even have customizable settings so you can save your perfect one. Generally speaking, more expensive the vibrator, more options you get.

Go pick your vibrator!

These are the four main things I consider when shopping for a vibrator. I’m not really one who cares about aesthetics as long as it makes me feel good, but find a pretty one if that’s your thing!

From my growing vibrator collection I have a couple that are my favorite that I bring out often. It may take a few purchases but don’t give up until you find the ones that make you come!
