What’s your blog name/online handle and how did you come up with the idea?
PopMyCherryReview.com. I was working at a brick and mortar store and didn’t feel very confident answering questions about the products for my customers, especially when I found what I referred to as a “smelly-jelly” that was oozing chemicals that my boss had for sale. So, I started reviewing sex toys and writing articles on sexuality and found out all about phthalates. It then became my passion to show consumers the difference between good sex toy products and crap. So, I wrote an article on Phthalates- “Sex Toy Materials-Snake Oils in Sexy Packaging” and then another on Body-safe Lubes and only reviewed body safe products on my blog after that. The name of the site came rather naturally, as I was popping my own cherry with new information about sex and sex toys. So, its kind of a play on words, but also works sexually as well. Domina Doll was my Dominatrix name and I just kept it for my online sex blogging persona.
Which country do you live in?
Approximately how long have you been sex blogging?
Why did you start a sex blog or reviewing sex toys?
Same as above. After a while it became apparent that most people were very uneducated about sex and pleasure. So, I then began writing more about female pleasure, specifically the G-spot, and now run Gspotgirl.com. Its my hope to empower, encourage and enlighten women and couples how to experience more pleasure both solo and in their relationships.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
Educating people. Turning them on to something they didn’t already know about their body. Validating their experience, desires and wants with my own experiences and kind of giving them permission to explore their own sexuality.
Do you use social media? If so, where can we find you?
Do your friends know you’re a sex blogger?
Yes, everyone knows what I do, family, friends. This is who I am and my life.
Have you ever done anything specifically so you can blog about it afterwards?
Yes. My whole life I have been doing crazy, wild things and knew some day I would write about it. I didn’t know it would be in a blog, but that’s what happened. I also tried different sexual experiences to write about in my blog, to educate myself and my readers.
Do you take part in any blog memes? If so, which ones?
Share with us a funny or interesting experience that’s happened to you in the course of your blogging.
I had a masturbate-a-thon via Twitter one year where I masturbated every hour for 12 hours and tweeted about it. It was actually a lot harder than I though it would be. I did this for Masturbation Month.
Will you still be blogging in 5 years time?
Yes, I will always be writing and blogging in some form or other. In addition to PMCR and Gspotgirl.com I also blog for Sexpert.com.
If not already a professional blog: would you say you’re looking to earn a living from blogging eventually, or will it remain a hobby?
I am semi-pro. I accept advertising on my blog, but I don’t make a living off of it. I get more from my writing gigs, consulting, and working for sex toy companies and sexuality companies writing content, doing marketing and social media.
Tell us about three other bloggers you admire, and why.
HeyEpiphora – I like her honesty and spunk.
Kara Sutra – I love her passion to educate others
Cara Sutra – I find you inspiring
If you review sex toys, what are the top three toys you wish you could get your hands on next?
I have reviewed Shiri Zins toys before (designer) and would love to review more.
Jade Eggs, and Cordless Magic Wand.
Who is your favourite adult shopping company, and why?
Sextoy.com. I have worked freelance for Sex Toy Dave Levine and Sextoy.com for 7 years. So, I’m a bit jaded. But to work with a company that long and still love it, they must be doing something right. I really pride myself on being a part of such a great team and helping develop better ways to serve our customers. I have however worked for many amazing sex toy companies throughout the years doing content writing including PinkCherry.com, Vibrator.com, GoodVibes.com, as well as many other retailers and manufacturers who I’ve reviewed for including Lelo, CalExotics, JimmyJane, Shiri Zin, Coco de Mer, LoveHoney, Cleis Press (erotica & NF sex books), Babeland, Liberator and many more. So, I’m not really that jaded LOL! Baby, I’ve been around 😉
Do you prefer blogging fictional erotica, real life sex anecdotes or factual based content such as reviews and advice guides?
I prefer real life experiences and sexual advice. I wrote erotica for years, but then started NF and never turned back.
