About Donna Gallagher
A few years ago when the sensual, male voices in Australian-born Donna Gallagher’s head became too loud to ignore there were only two options available – check herself into a mental hospital or put pen to paper and write.
A voracious reader and avid sports fan it was no surprise that her first seven books were based around her beloved sport of rugby league. A former WAG Donna had plenty of personal experience to fall back on as she created her fictional team of hunky Aussie sports heroes and the women that won their hearts.
A double finalist in the Australian Romance Readers Awards 2013 for Favourite Erotic Romance with her books Emily’s Cowboy and Sarah’s Soldier, Donna was also thrilled to be named a finalist for ARRA’s Favourite Australian Romance Author and Favourite Continuing Romance Series.
While sports romances will always hold a special place in her heart Donna has now expanded her genres to include romantic suspense with her soon to be released Haven Security series and a sexy, short, contemporary erotic story A Fruitful Intimacy set on a tropical island in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
Her years as a WAG may not have lived up to the happy-ever-after she creates in her books but a second shot at love has proven a winner. Donna is now happily married to her very own hero. She lives a ten minute drive from Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House with her three grown sons, two turtles and a very spoilt mini dachshund called Toni.

G’day and thank you so much for hosting me at Cara Sutra.
In December I celebrated my author-versary. It’s been two years since my first book Caitlin’s Hero released and I’ve got to say it’s been one hell of a journey. I never had any aspirations to write a book. I loved reading erotic romance or any good book for that matter and was quite happy in my life as wife, mother, sister, aunt. As my bio says it wasn’t until I heard the voice of Brodie James in my head, and could not get him to be quiet, that it all began.
Even then, as I tried to type fast enough for my impatient muse, I didn’t think anyone else would be interested in what Brodie had to say. So imagine my surprise when after working up the nerve to submit a manuscript to Totally Bound Publishing they offered me a contract.
There I was nearly 50 years old trying to get my head around new experiences like edits, yahoo groups and blogs. For someone that left school at fifteen and usually had a panic attack trying to write absentee letters when her children were sick it was quite a learning curve. Luckily my boys were internet savvy and happy to aid their computer illiterate mum.
My League of Love series covers many different storylines from dealing with public notoriety, attention from groupies, dealing with stalker issues, teenage crushes and the role of women in sport. Laura’s Light will always have a special place in my heart as the storyline focusses on two issues, single parenthood and an illness that affects members of my family – Depression.
Summary of Laura’s Light
Forty-two- year- old single mother Laura Harris devoted more than half her life to raising her son. She remembered the concept of having sex but it had been aeons since she’s actually been a participant – especially with a real flesh-and-blood partner. But it’s time to reclaim her life. Her son is a man now. And the rising star of the Jets rugby league team. Their future is brighter than ever and, for the first time, financially secure. But Laura is starting to think agreeing to have dinner with Trevor Hughes could be biting off more than she can chew. Not that she can’t see herself taking a nice big chunk from the absolutely gorgeous thirty-four-year-old sports commentator’s rump, he’s one prime piece of masculinity! She just isn’t sure how or when the whole sex thing will become an issue. She can’t even get past the what-to-wear step. Let alone the when-to-take-it-off stage…
Trevor Hughes usually avoids the woman with substance – he has enough of his own demons to deal without trying to care for anyone else. But there’s something about the upbeat, sexy, one-woman-dynamo Laura Harris. The woman is pure sunshine and happiness. And that’s surprising when you look at what life has handed her. Nothing seemed to dampen Laura’s spirits and she quickly becomes someone Trevor needs in his life…Until misunderstandings come between them. Can Trevor put things right?

He dragged her roughly by the shoulders to her feet—too roughly, probably, but the need to kiss her robbed Trevor of rational thought.
Laura’s swollen, wet lips opened under his and their tongues duelled, competing in a dance of passion. They stood embracing, kissing, looking dishevelled. Trevor’s pants were around his ankles and his cock drooped, sated, from his body. Laura’s discarded underwear was strewn beside them and her dress was creased and rumpled. Trevor drew his lips from hers, leaned his forehead against hers.
“Wow, that was unbelievable. You are unbelievable. We are unbelievable together.”
His words came in a whisper, his emotions spinning out of control. Trevor did not want to scare her, did not want to come across too strong, but he could not stop himself. Laura filled a hole in his soul, made him feel complete. Touching her filled him with such a sense of contentment, a sensation that was so foreign to Trevor. In a moment of clarity so strong he could not ignore it, Trevor understood that Laura was the missing piece of the puzzle he had searched for his entire life.
And that thought scared the shit out of him. His life was not a life to share. It was a life that was not always easy to live. A life that had been filled with dark thoughts and, a short while ago, even darker days. It was not the sort of life he would wish upon anyone, least of all Laura.
Those dark days still haunted Trevor. He hadn’t realised at the time that depression was an illness, had thought that this latest bout of black moods and then decline into utter despair was due to the knee injury that had subsequently forced him into retirement. Just thinking back on those times made Trevor mentally shudder. It was still hard to put into words the depths of his struggle to regain some kind of perspective—sanity.
After months of counselling and with the help of prescription medication, Trevor now understood that he had been battling depression for a good chunk of his life. All those times when the world had seemed against him, it had felt as though he was being singled out, that people just didn’t understand him. Those times, when he’d just locked himself away, struggled to get out of bed because facing the world and all that was expected of him had been too daunting a task, had been as a result of his ongoing battle with the misunderstood disease.
My hero from Emily’s Cowboy, Gareth, moves to Sydney from his small country town of Gunnedah, leaving his girl and family behind. Back in my day as a wife of a rugby league player, I had the experience of taking a young country team mate into my home. He also struggled with living in the city and away from the support of family. So I could sympathise with Gareth. My home state of New South Wales had just endured a nasty bushfire season, so I tried to include those struggles into my manuscript. I was so thrilled when this book finalised in the 2013 ARRA awards and the National Excellence in Romance Fiction Awards presented by the First Coast Romance Writers.
Summary of Emily’s Cowboy
It’s such a cliché — country boy moves to the big city to follow his dreams, leaving his girl and everything he loves behind – but that’s exactly what Gareth Andrews has done. Playing rugby league is Gareth’s dream and he’s signed with one of the best teams in the competition – The Sydney Jets. Of course that has meant a move to the big city and leaving Emily Mackenzie and everything he loves behind. Not that Gareth hasn’t begged her to join him in the city he has, on bended knee — but Emily needs to stay in Gunnedah and help her father on the family farm until her brother’s stint in the armed forces is over. But Gareth knows it’s more than that. Emily is hiding away, embarrassed by the scars that mar her body in a constant reminder of the bushfire that nearly took her life.
Can love give Emily the courage to face strangers again when her father is badly injured and Gareth shows up at the hospital to support her? Or will she let her fear and shame get the better of her and break her one true love’s heart for a second time?

As he fought to undo the button on his jeans his fingers felt like thumbs. The simple task of undoing the metal fastening—something he did a million times a day—was an impossible assignment when his mind was full of Emily, fixated on her naked body.
“Here, let me.”
And before he could blink, there was Emily, his Emily, on her knees in front of him, one of her hands gently grasping his balls as the other stroked his rock-hard cock through the soaked fabric of his jeans. He feared he would come from just the touch of her hand, even with the jeans shielding him from the feel of her delicate skin wrapped around his cock. He needed them off now, wished he held some magical power so that one sweep of his hand could make the jeans and his boots disappear. Remove the barrier that stood between him and ramming his cock home in the sweet haven of her pussy.
“Oh, Em, I don’t think I’ll last. I want you so much.”
Gareth groaned the words, his voice conveying both his agony and his complete need for her. If she felt the same as him—the overpowering longing that had robbed Gareth of the ability to relay from his brain the instructions to successfully unclasp the metal fastening—then she hid it well. It only took Emily a moment before she was pushing his jeans down past the swollen head of his cock, which—now relieved of the pressure of being strangled by the constraining denim—was standing fully erect, brushing against her cheek. She managed to get his jeans past his hips but stopped at his knees. Gareth’s boots, now full of water, were an impassable impediment.
But his Emily was not to be deterred from her apparent goal. She gave up on the task of removing his jeans, instead focusing her attentions and her precious hands on his hard length. Gareth audibly groaned at the first touch of her hand. Her grasp was firm as she stroked his shaft, just as she knew he liked. With an anticipation that all but killed him, he waited for that sensation, that first lick of her tongue around the rimmed head of his cock. He knew that was what he would feel, remembered it, hungered for it…then it was there. The mind-blowing, cock-exploding feel of that warm, wet tongue on him, so fucking familiar, so fucking good that Gareth’s sanity was teetering on the edge.
On January 12th my novella A Fruitful Intimacy releases. This is the first of a few books I’ve written that does not involve sport in any way. I’m relieved to know I can write other forms of erotic romance. This is a little tale that many married couples may experience, a loss of intimacy that occurs around the same time as parenthood and mortgage repayments. My frustrated couple head off to spend a few days on a tropical island in North Queensland’s Barrier reef. I absolutely love the cover the talented Posh Gosh put together for me. Totally Bound books have such great covers.
Summary of A Fruitful Intimacy
The fire and passion of their love has slowly ebbed away through years of neglect. Can a second honeymoon re-ignite that spark?
There has been no physical contact in their marriage for so long that when Ben first hatches his plan to take Beth away for the weekend, it really is all about the sex and providing an environment where there are no distractions and no excuse for her to refuse his advances again. But while Ben is making all the arrangements, it suddenly becomes clear to him that there’s something more important at stake— His marriage, to the woman of his dreams, is actually in trouble.
Beth believed that motherhood would come easily, that building a perfect world around her three sons and husband would be achievable. But reality has proven her wrong. The more she tried, the more her failures shattered her confidence. Where she planned to shower her family with home baked cookies, smiles and unconditional love, she struggles just getting the evening meal on the table. By the end of the day she’s so exhausted that she can’t even fulfil her marital obligations. Once upon a time making love to Ben was just as necessary as breathing, before her body was ravaged by the demands of pregnancy and childbirth. They’ve grown so far apart that Beth’s convinced Ben’s having an affair.
Can a second honeymoon really help Beth and Ben bridge that growing divide between them and bring back the fire and passion that has slowly, through years of neglect, ebbed away? And will this give the couple a much needed chance to work together for a happier future? Or is it too late?

“My turn, husband.” She placed her hands on either side of Ben’s face and drew him closer until she could cover his lips with her own. As their mouths crushed together, Beth could taste a mixture of mango and her own juices—the flavor an erotic mix.
Her tongue danced and dueled with Ben’s until finally, breathless, Beth pulled away.
“Swap positions with me, Ben.”
Without too much fuss, Beth levered herself from the vanity, and spun Ben’s body around so he could now rest his backside against the edge. There was no need for him to sit because as Beth lowered to her knees Ben’s rigid cock stood proud and hard within her reach.
“First for some lubrication.” She grabbed a chunk of pineapple. “The inside is a little rough. I wonder how it will feel running up and down your cock?”
The moan from Ben answered her question as she gently stroked the rim of his engorged mushroom-shaped head. “Hmmm… I hope I didn’t hurt you? Maybe I should kiss you better?”
Opening her mouth, Beth leaned forward to take the tempting, rigid shaft between her lips. The hint of pineapple mixed with Ben’s musky scent was too inviting to ignore. She took him into her mouth as far as she could before dragging her lips away again. More interested in relishing her husband, she discarded the fruit in her grasp and wrapped one hand around the base of Ben’s cock. She massaged his balls gently with her other.
Beth kept up a slow, torturous pace. Well, torture for Ben anyway—she was enjoying every moment. Having her lips around Ben’s cock, the satiny texture of the skin, the taste of the slightly salty drops of pre-cum, made her feel sexy—a welcome feeling. One she rejoiced in. Knowing she had control of Ben’s pleasure had her own arousal building and she hummed in enjoyment.
“You’re killing me… Do that again. Hum again. Fuck me! So good! I can feel your mouth vibrating around my cock.” Ben growled as he grabbed a handful of her hair and tugged gently on the strands. “But you have to stop. I want to be buried balls deep in your wet pussy when I come, baby.”
At the moment I’m busy working on book 3 in my Haven Security series. The first book An Opportunity Seized releases in February 2015 and book two, An Opportunity for Redemption in May. I haven’t given up on my footy players though and hope to get back to them soon.
Thanks again for having me and I wish you all have a wonderful festive season and a happy 2015.
