Tara Thornton hasn’t spoken to her sister in two years, ever since Azure married the man of Tara’s dreams. Tired of the rift, Azure invites her to take a Mediterranean cruise on a friend’s yacht and, bowing to family pressure, Tara accepts.
Forced to be in close proximity with the man she still desires, Tara is thrown into confusion. The presence of celebrity theme park owner Liam Wilder and the reality of his marriage to Azure sends Tara into a tailspin and, in an attempt to regain control, she responds to the advances of hot fellow guest Ryan Hyde, while determined to feel no affection for him.
But Ryan has a way of getting under her skin, and Tara’s plan to get closer to Liam is rapidly losing its importance as Ryan begins to break down her defences. Can she let go of Liam, let Ryan into her heart… and tell Azure the real reason for her silence?
Twisting to one side with a jerk, Tara opened her eyes and raised herself on one elbow.
The hotel room was white stone, lit up in the morning sunlight. It was a basic studio room with a wardrobe, kitchenette and en-suite bathroom as well as a balcony. Above the bed an antiquated air conditioning unit hung, its door open. She had switched it off overnight, unable to sleep with its rattling wail.
It was going to be a beautiful day.
The clock showed eight thirty. Plenty of time to get down to the marina to meet the motor launch. Not enough time for brooding. The invitation stood propped up where the bedside table met the wall.
Tara was beginning to wish that she’d never agreed to come on the damned trip.
Next to the invitation stood a folded letter and a photograph. The letter she would need—Tara made a mental note not to leave it behind. The photograph was one she had debated bringing at all. It was slightly bent at the corners, a little faded, but otherwise well cared for—just battered slightly from being frequently hidden.
It was a promotional shot of a man in his late thirties, wearing an expensive-looking suit and tie. His head tilted to one side knowingly, his blue eyes seeming to look deep into hers. Tara held his gaze for a moment. If only it were true.
She rolled onto her back and braced her feet on the mattress, closing her eyes. She imagined that the hand she now slid along the inside of her thigh was his. A soft breath escaped her as she slipped two fingers inside her cunt, using her thumb to press and rub on her clit.
With her other hand she cupped one breast, tormenting the nipple into a stiff peak. Her motions grew faster as her fingers grew slicker, the image from the photograph clear in her head. She massaged the tender spot inside as her clit pulsed under her touch, bringing herself closer and closer to the edge.
It was him touching her, him pleasuring her. His voice in her ear whispering her name, telling her what he wanted to do to her, what she could do to him. He was laving her clit with his tongue, teasing her with his fingers, spreading her lips wide to slip his cock inside her—
She bit her lip and stifled a moan as her body tightened, pleasure rippling through her.
Maybe now she could face the day.
