Erotic Photography Tips For The Best Sexy Selfies

Do you ever look at the sexy selfies people have taken and posted on their blogs and wonder how you could do the same?  You don’t need expensive equipment or even a second pair of hands in order to be able to take sexy or erotic photos of yourself.  All you need is a bit of time and effort to prep before hand, a phone or camera with a timer and an idea of what kind of photos you are looking for. I’m going to share some erotic photography tips which can help you take truly alluring photos.

Erotic Photography Tips For The Best Sexy Selfies

While I think most of us would agree that there is not always anything flattering about a close up photo of someone’s vulva or penis, there is no reason that you can’t take photos that ARE flattering, arty and sexy.  It does take more effort than pulling down your trousers, snapping and pic and posting it to your blog though.

Before you take your sexy selfies, think about these factors.

Questions to Ask Yourself

Naked or clothed? Explicit or suggestive?

Think about the location, where are you going to be most comfortable taking these photos.  Preferably somewhere that you wont be interrupted, there is nothing less sexy than having a housemate or sibling walk into your room unannounced half way through you taking erotic selfies!

Do you have a mirror that you will want to use, any toys etc?  Get everything to hand before you start taking the photos, you don’t want to spoil the mood by rummaging through your wardrobe to find just the right pair of heels half way through.

Look at the background.  Declutter if you need to.  Although you want people’s eyes to be drawn to the main subject of the photo, if there is a pile of dirty laundry in the background you can guarantee it will be noticed!  Spend a bit of time and have a tidy up, move things that you don’t want in the picture.

Look at your own body and consider how it will look in a photo.  If your face is going to be included do your make up more boldy than you usually would.  Fluff your hair, pretend that you are on a big night out and do your face and hair accordingly.  Make sure that you have shaved / waxed / fake tanned anywhere that needs it, you don’t want to notice any stray hairs or stubble afterwards.

Lighting and time of day. Natural light is best for photos, and avoid bright sunlight if you can and at all costs avoid using the flash on your camera.  Just trust us on this one.

What do you want to wear in your photos, this is a great time to play and experiment.  Bring out the corsets, feather boas, extravagant jewelry and sexy underwear.

Perfect Posing

When you’ve decided what to wear, where you are going to take the pictures and the best time of day for good lighting then its time to think about the poses you will use.  If you’re not used to having your photo taken then the thought of posing can be intimidating, practice first in the mirror or just decide to go with the flow and see how you feel when the pictures are being taken.

What are your best features?  All of us have parts of our body that we don’t like (mine is my stomach) so concentrate on parts of you that you love and avoid taking pics of any of your “problem” areas.   Boobs, legs, arms, face, hair, bum, abs – everyone has some parts of their body that they love, focus on those and avoid the bits that you don’t like.

What Else Is In The Frame?

Consider how you are going to frame the photo, take some practice shots so you can see how far away you need the camera to be.  You want to have the main focus of the shot in the middle of the photo, filling as much of the frame as possible.  Although you can crop and edit the photos afterwards it is a good idea to get as much right in the set up as you can.

If you have a partner at hand to take the photos for you this is by far the easiest way to do it.  They can direct you and ask you to move and change your pose to alter the style of the photos.  Taking sexy photos of each other can be a very erotic way to spend some time, don’t feel uncomfortable asking your partner to help you out.  The chances are they will jump at the chance.

Chill Out

The more relaxed you are the better the final photos will be.  Have a think about what would relax you before you start to set the scene.  Maybe a long bath with bubbles and candles or a couple of glasses of wine?  Everyone is going to be different and if you have enlisted the help of a partner to take the photos for you, it may be that you may find that a little sexy fun before (during and after) the photoshoot helps to relax you both, just don’t get so carried away that you mess up your hair and make up and forget that you’re even supposed to be taking photos.

Personal Safety

If you are planning on posting the photos online anywhere you need to consider your personal safety.  Do you want to include your face so that you can be recognized?  You may think that the chances of friends and family stumbling over your closely guarded secret of a sex blog are unlikely but let me tell you it can happen!

The general rule of thumb is not to post anything that you would be embarrassed for your family to see.  To my mind, this means that posting a sexy photo of my body is OK but not to include my face.  Other people are less shy about the chances of being recognized and there is a lot of truth to the statement that your eyes are the sexiest part of your body, any sexy body photo is made a million times more convincing and real if it has a head attached to it!

What To Include

If you are confident with your face and body then why not take photos that include all of you and do what you choose with them.   This process can be really empowering for many women, it is your body and if you choose to take photos of yourself and publish them on the internet then why the hell not?  Unless you are  school teacher, politician or celebrity then it really shouldn’t be any one else’s business.

Bear in mind though that if the photos that you are taking are kinky in any way then maybe this needs a little more careful consideration  It’s one thing for your gran to see a picture of you in beautiful sexy underwear posing seductively on your bed, (after all everyone has a sexual side to them and while she may not approve she will definitely be able to relate in some way shape or form) but quite another for her to see you trying out 2 vibrators at once whilst being flogged!

Sharing Your Sexy Selfies

Its also worth having a think about the purpose of the photos, are they going to be posted on your blog, emailed to your lover, saved on your phone or laptop for your own viewing pleasure?  If you share your phone or laptop with anyone else in your family it may be worth considering saving your sexy pics onto a flash drive so that it can be kept somewhere safe.

The long and short of taking sexy selfies is to enjoy it, relax and do what ever makes you happy.  Life is too short to worry about what other people think, just make sure you have sat down and assessed the risks before you start, if you’re still happy to go ahead and do it then good for you! Hopefully these erotic photography tips have given you the confidence to begin.
